Chapter 4 - The Revelation of the Hidden LetterAn hour later, the bakery was closed to the public. Frank, the old baker, quietly served warm tea and hot chocolate to the boys at a side table while Preston, Naomi, and Attorney Martin Vance sat in the private rear office.

Four-year-old Theo and Eli were happily eating fresh chocolate croissants, their small faces lit up with joy as Frank showed them how a flour sifter worked.

Inside the quiet office, Martin set a worn, yellowed leather pouch flat onto the wooden desk.

"Naomi," Martin spoke softly, his voice full of deep respect. "When I audited the Calloway family vault last night, I found eleven unopened letters you sent to Preston five years ago. But behind the main vault door, locked inside Victoria's private safety deposit box, I found a twelve document."

Naomi blinked, her eyes wide. "A twelfth document...? I only wrote eleven letters."

Martin pulled out an old, parchment envelope bearing a wax seal from forty years ago—the personal handwriting of Preston's late father, Arthur Calloway.

Preston frowned, taking the envelope into his hands. "My father's handwriting...? My father died when I was twelve years old."

"Read it, Preston," Martin suggested gently.

Preston broke the wax seal, unfolding the handwritten letter inside:

"To my son, Preston,

If you are reading this, it means your mother, Victoria, has attempted to use our corporate wealth to control your life the way she tried to control mine. What Victoria has never told you is that the true foundation of Calloway Global was not built on her family's money. It was built on a fifty-percent joint partnership established by Naomi Vance's grandfather, Edward Vance, in 1978.

Edward Vance funded my first commercial building project with his life savings. Before his death, we signed a binding covenant ensuring that fifty percent of Calloway Global would permanently belong to Edward's heirs—a covenant Victoria attempted to destroy after my death.

Do not let wealth blind you to true honor, my son. Love the people who stand beside you when the world is quiet.

Your loving father,

Arthur Calloway"

Preston sat back in his chair, completely speech-bound.

Naomi stared at the letter in total, disbelieving shock. "My grandfather... was your father's business partner?!"

"He didn't just partner with him, Naomi," Martin revealed, a proud smile touching his lips. "Your grandfather owned half the empire. You were never a 'common schoolteacher' who didn't belong in their world. You were the rightful co-owner of Calloway Global before you ever met Preston."

Preston looked at Naomi—at her gentle hazel eyes, her quiet dignity, and the incredible strength she had carried through five years of forced poverty and isolation.

A deep, weightless realization settled into his soul.

He reached across the desk, taking her cold, trembling hands into his warm palms, bringing them to his lips, kissing her knuckles with profound reverence.

"You weren't living in my world, Naomi," Preston whispered softly, tears shining in his eyes. "I was living in yours."
