Chapter 7 - A Crown Well Earned

Six months later, the private gardens of the Moretti estate were bathed in the golden light of an early summer evening.

Lanterns hung from the ancient oak branches, casting a warm, romantic glow over the hundred guests gathered on the manicured lawn—mayors, judges, international dignitaries, and the few trusted inner-circle members of the restructured Moretti empire.

At the center of the terrace stood an archway completely covered in white orchids and climbing ivy.

Elena stood inside the master suite upstairs, staring at her reflection in the full-length gilded mirror. She wore a bespoke gown of ivory silk designed with clean, architectural lines—a subtle nod to her past life, elevated by timeless elegance. Her dark hair was swept up in an intricate chignon, secured by a single vintage hairpin her father had given her mother on their wedding day.

The heavy oak door clicked open, and Luca stepped inside.

He stopped dead in his tracks. For all his commanding presence, for all the billions of dollars and criminal empires he commanded, the breath simply left his lungs as he took her in.

"Good lord, Elena," he whispered, crossing the room in two long strides. "If I knew marriage was going to look like this, I would have kidnapped you six months ago."

Elena laughed, turning to face him as he gently traced the neckline of her dress with shaking fingers. "You practically did, remember? Armed guards, secure wings, and tactical vests."

"And you survived every second of it," Luca murmured, his voice thick with emotion as he captured her face in his hands. "You walked into my dark world and brought light into every corner of it."

"I love you, Luca," she said softly, the words coming effortlessly, carrying the full weight of everything they had built together from blood, ash, and unbreakable trust.

"I love you, Elena," he replied, pressing his forehead against hers. "More than my own breath. More than this empire."

Ten minutes later, as the string quartet played a soft, classical melody, Luca and Elena walked hand-in-hand down the stone aisle of the garden terrace. There were no tears of sorrow, no fear of hidden enemies, and no shadows lurking in the corners.

When they reached the altar, the presiding judge smiled warmly, and the guests rose as one.

As Luca slipped a heavy platinum band encrusted with rare green emeralds onto her finger—a ring designed specifically to honor her mother’s memory—he leaned in close, his breath warm against her ear.

"First kiss as my wife," he whispered with a wicked, dangerous smile. "Let's take it slow."

Elena smiled back, her heart swelling with absolute, unshakeable peace, and pulled him into a kiss that sealed their eternity.
