Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever HomeAt 8:00 PM, as the Mediterranean sun dipped below the Aegean horizon, painting the sky in brilliant shades of rose, gold, and deep indigo, the cliffside terrace was illuminated by dozens of soft, twinkling fairy lights.

The guests laughed and drank champagne near the pool, their voices echoing happily across the quiet caldera.

I stood near the edge of the terrace with Dante, looking out at the sparkling lights of the sailing yachts gliding across the dark, calm water below.

Marco—my former manager from Bella Vista, who now ran the estate's private culinary operations—stepped up to our table carrying a silver tray holding two glasses of vintage Agiorgitiko wine.

"For Don Dante and Donna Emily," Marco smiled warmly, offering a respectful bow before stepping back into the house.

Dante picked up the crystal glasses, handing one to me, clinking his glass gently against mine under the warm evening sky.

"To curiosity," Dante toasted softly, his gray-black eyes fixed entirely on my face.

"To never running again," I smiled back, taking a slow sip of the rich, sweet wine.

Dante wrapped his broad arm securely around my waist, pulling me tight against his solid frame, as we watched the moon rise over the sea.

There were no twelve-hour shifts at crowded restaurants. There were no abusive stepfathers waiting in dark alleys. There were no tears swallowed over unpaid rent.

The quiet, terrified fugitive from Ohio was dead forever. The sovereign queen of the Moretti empire had claimed her throne.

And standing under the vast, unbroken Mediterranean sky, wrapped in the arms of the man who loved me, holding my head high, I knew that my life, my heart, and my future were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
