Chapter 6 - The Promise on the TerraceSix months after the afternoon at Bella Vista, the warm spring breeze rolled softly over the soaring stone terraces of the Villa Moretti in Oia.

The conflict with my stepfather's syndicate in Ohio had ended with absolute, crushing finality. Harold and Tyler Vance were sentenced to twenty-five years in a federal maximum-security penitentiary for wire fraud, extortion, and attempted kidnapping.

My late father's legitimate estate trust was fully restored, providing a two-million-dollar foundation that I used to launch the Hart Educational Sanctuary in Santorini—a private school providing free English education and housing for seasonal service workers across the Cyclades.

Meanwhile, my life with Dante transformed completely.

I no longer worked twelve-hour shifts at Bella Vista. I lived inside his stone fortress, not as a protected refugee, but as the sovereign mistress of his estate. Together, we traveled between his private residences in Rome, Amalfi, and Santorini, managing his vast, legitimate maritime and hotel enterprises.

On a clear, warm Saturday afternoon in late May, the wide cliffside terrace overlooking the caldera was set with long white-linen tables, blooming white orchids, and sunlit champagne for a grand celebration.

Over fifty international business leaders, local island dignitaries, and foundation team members gathered around the candlelit tables, enjoying fine Greek food and live acoustic music.

I stood near the stone balustrade wearing a breathtaking, floor-length silk dress in royal Mediterranean blue that caught the afternoon sunlight like liquid sapphire. My dark hair fell in glossy waves over my shoulders, my hazel eyes shining with absolute, unshakeable confidence.

Down on my left hand rested a seven-carat flawless emerald-cut diamond ring set in platinum.

Dante walked out onto the terrace wearing a tailored black suit without a tie, stepping up behind me, wrapping his broad, warm arms around my waist, pulling my back flush against his chest.

He pressed a sweet, lingering kiss against my temple, his dark eyes shining with an absolute, unshakeable devotion.

"What are you thinking about, mia cara?" Dante whispered softly into my ear.

I turned in his arms, resting my hands against his broad chest, looking up into his handsome, severe face.

"I was thinking about the day I refilled your wine glass at Bella Vista," I answered softly, a radiant smile touching my lips. "When you told me to be afraid of you."

May you like

Dante offered a rare, breathtaking smile—a look of pure, eternal love that lit up his features.

"You were a stubborn waitress who refused to run, Emily," Dante promised, leaning down to press his lips softly, fiercely against mine in a deep, unhurried kiss. "And you became my home."
