Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever HomeSix months after the rainy Thursday in Dante's office, a warm, clear spring sun painted the sky over the Lake Michigan shoreline in brilliant shades of gold, rose, and deep sapphire.

On the vast oceanfront terrace of the Marino Estate in Gold Coast, two hundred prominent corporate leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, Leo, and close friends gathered around white-linen tables set up along the stone patio for an official wedding and rededication celebration.

I stood near the marble balustrade wearing a breathtaking, floor-length ivory silk wedding gown designed to celebrate every line of my figure. My dark hair fell in glossy waves over my shoulders, my hazel eyes shining with absolute, unshakeable victory.

Down on my left hand rested an eight-carat flawless emerald-cut diamond engagement ring set beside the Marino family signet band.

Leo sat happily at the head table alongside his private medical team, smiling brightly as he painted a sunlit portrait of the terrace.

Dante Marino walked out onto the terrace wearing an immaculate black tuxedo—a towering, handsome giant of a man whose storm-gray eyes shone with pure, eternal joy as he looked at me.

He stepped up behind me near the balustrade, wrapping his broad, warm arms around my waist, pulling my back flush against his solid chest.

He pressed a sweet, lingering kiss against my temple, his deep baritone full of unshakeable devotion.

"What are you thinking about, my queen?" Dante whispered softly into my ear.

I looked out over the vast, sparkling blue waters of Lake Michigan stretching before us into the unbroken horizon, feeling a deep, weightless peace settle into every corner of my soul.

"I was thinking about a rainy Thursday six months ago," I answered softly, turning in his arms to rest my hands against his broad chest. "When an accountant walked into a Don's office and complained about a steam-cleaning surcharge."

Dante offered a rare, breathtaking smile—a look of pure, eternal love that lit up his carved, handsome face.

"You didn't just complain about a surcharge, Emily," Dante promised, leaning down to press his lips softly, fiercely against mine in a deep, unhurried kiss. "You brought me back to life."

Frank raised his champagne glass from the primary table, his deep voice carrying cleanly across the quiet grounds.

"To Don Dante and Donna Emily Marino!" Frank toasted with deep, genuine pride. "The sovereign leaders who built an empire of honor out of unbroken strength, truth, and eternal love!"

"To Dante and Emily!" the entire terrace echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, dozens of crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.

Across the dark, sparkling blue waters of Lake Michigan, the evening sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in sweeping tapestries of indigo, gold, and deep sapphire.

There were no arrogant capos stealing funds in dark rooms. There were no federal audits threatening innocent lives. There were no financial debts or tears separating our hearts.

The exhausted, overworked accountant was dead forever. The sovereign CEO and matriarch had claimed her true home.

And standing under the vast, unbroken sky, wrapped in the arms of the man who loved every inch of my body and soul, holding my head high, I knew that my life, my heart, and my family were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
