Chapter 3 - The Purge of the Grand AssemblyAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the grand mahogany boardroom atop the Boston Financial Center was packed to absolute capacity.

Over forty senior syndicate capos, commercial shipping directors, high-society attorneys, and corporate shareholders sat around the massive forty-foot carved walnut table beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Sitting at the head of the table, wearing a tailored navy suit, holding a silver pen, was forty-five-year-old Vincent Vane. Beside him sat his brother, Richard Vane—my former manager—who looked nervous, frantically adjusting his silk tie as they prepared to sign an emergency proxy agreement.
"Gentlemen," Vincent announced into the central microphone, his voice dripping with condescending authority, "today we execute the permanent transfer of the South Boston berth proxies due to the tragic, unexpected incapacity of Mr. Dominic Romano—"
BOOM!
The heavy double oak doors of the executive boardroom were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!
The chatter of forty corporate executives vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.
Walking down the central red carpet, flanked by Chief Security Director Luca Ferraro and four armed federal marshals, was me.
I wore a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk suit that celebrated my graceful figure, my dark hair styled in glossy waves over my shoulders, my hazel eyes burning with absolute, sovereign authority.
And walking right beside me, wearing an magnificent charcoal bespoke suit, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, radiating an untouchable power... was Dominic Romano.
Richard Vane dropped his silver pen.
CRASH!
The heavy metal pen clattered flat against the mahogany table, rolling onto the floor as his face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green. He stumbled backward out of his chair, knocking over his water glass.
"R-RICHARD...?! DOMINIC?! CHLOE?!" Vincent Vane stammered, taking two panicked steps backward against the window. "WHAT IS THIS ILL-MANNERED INTERRUPTING?! SHE IS JUST A FIRED WAITRESS!"
"She isn't a waitress, Vincent," Dominic announced flatly, his deep baritone carrying cleanly across the vast room, dropping the room's temperature to absolute zero. "She is the Chief Administrative Trustee of the Romano Foundation... and the woman who saved my life."
Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Vincent Vane’s trembling hands:
TOTAL MARITIME RECOVERY: Certified enforcement of the Romano Trust Deeds, confirming Chloe Henderson as sole administrative controller of the South Boston Shipping Terminals.
THE POISONING & FRAUD INDICTMENT: Federal arrest warrants served on Vincent Vane and Richard Vane for Attempted Premeditated Murder, Interstate Wire Fraud, and $30 Million Embezzlement.
BLACKMAIL RECOVERY: Civil suit filings ordering Richard Vane to forfeit all personal assets to settle Chloe Henderson’s mother's medical debt claims.
"THIS IS UNLAWFUL!" Richard Vane shrieked, thrashing as two uniformed federal marshals stepped forward with heavy steel handcuffs. "YOU CAN'T SEIZE MY RESTAURANTS!"
"We don't need to seize your restaurants, Richard," I spoke out flatly, my clear, silver voice echoing cleanly across the quiet room, dropping the temperature to zero. "Your license was revoked an hour ago by the Board of Health, and your servers just handed federal prosecutors your private ledger."
