Chapter 2 - The Interrogation of HannahBy 2:00 AM, the seventh floor of Fairview Regional Hospital had been transformed into an impenetrable military command outpost.

Four armed Special Forces operators guarded the entrance doors, while a specialized mobile ICU unit—dispatched directly from Fort Benning—was installed inside Rosalie's room, replacing the civilian equipment with military-grade life support and private trauma specialists.

In a secure conference room down the hall, I sat at the head of a stainless-steel table. I had changed into a clean dark tactical shirt, my muscular arms resting flat on the table, my cold gray eyes fixed on twenty-year-old Hannah Miller.

She sat across from me, trembling uncontrollably, a cup of untouched herbal tea sitting cold between her shaking fingers. Standing behind my chair was Marcus Vance, holding a secure digital recording tablet.

"Hannah," I spoke softly, my voice carrying a quiet, terrifying weight. "You were the only one who couldn't look at me in that hallway. You're the youngest. You're the only sister Rosalie ever tried to protect from your mother's control."

Tears spilled over Hannah’s lashes, tracking through her makeup. "Alexander... please... they'll kill me..."

"No one touches you while I am breathing, Hannah," I swore, leaning forward, my hands clasping flat over the table. "Look at me. Look at my eyes. I brought down insurgent networks across three continents. Your mother and your sisters are nothing to me. Tell me what happened in my house."

Hannah buried her face in her hands, her shoulders heaving as a torrent of long-suppressed truth broke free:

"It... it wasn't a burglary, Alexander!" Hannah wept, her voice shaking violently. "Mother found out two weeks ago that Rosalie had discovered the secret offshore accounts! Rosalie found out that Miller Aerospace was using your late father-in-law's original patents to launder seventy million dollars into shell accounts in Panama!"

My fists tightened until the leather of my watch strap creaked. "Go on."

"Mother told Amanda and Charlotte to get the ledger back from your house on Tuesday night," Hannah sobbed, looking at me with pure horror in her eyes. "They took Jessica and Natalie with them! They used a spare key Mother had kept... they thought Rosalie was asleep! But Rosalie caught them in the study holding the documents!"

"Who swung the iron framing hammer, Hannah?" I asked, my voice dropping into an icy register that made the room's air freeze.

"Amanda," Hannah whispered, the horrific confession dropping like a block of lead onto the table. "Amanda hit her first... and then Charlotte helped her tie Rosalie to the chair so they could search the rest of the house for the flash drive... they left her there to die in the dark, Alexander! Mother called Detective Ward at midnight to stage the break-in!"

Behind me, Marcus Vance tapped his tablet, saving the encrypted confession directly to federal evidence servers.

I slowly stood up from the chair.

For seven months, I had been fighting enemies in foreign deserts, believing I was protecting the nation. Now, I realized the real monsters were wearing pearls, navy suits, and silk dresses in an estate twenty miles away.

"Marcus," I said smoothly, walking toward the door. "Issue federal arrest warrants for Amanda, Charlotte, Jessica, Natalie, and Melissa Miller for Attempted First-Degree Premeditated Murder and Treason."

"And Catherine Miller, sir?" Marcus asked.

I stopped at the threshold, looking back at Hannah before locking my eyes onto the hallway glass.

"Catherine Miller belongs to me."
