Chapter 7 - THE TOWER OF LIGHTThree years later.

The afternoon sun shone brightly over a sprawling beachfront home on Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina.
Children’s laughter echoed across the green lawn. My three-year-old son, Julian Jr., was running through the grass chasing a golden retriever puppy, his joyful squeals drifting on the ocean breeze.
On the wrap-around porch, my father sat in a comfortable wicker chair, reading a storybook to little Julian, his face filled with a peace he had been denied for three decades.
Emily walked out of the house carrying a tray of fresh lemonade, wearing a bright yellow sundress that caught the sea wind.
I walked up behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist, resting my chin gently on her shoulder as we watched our son play in the yard.
"What are you thinking about, David?" Emily murmured softly, leaning back against my chest.
"I was thinking about the night I locked you in that storage room," I admitted quietly, my heart still aching whenever I remembered my worst mistake. "I was thinking about how close I came to losing everything that mattered."
Emily turned in my arms, placing her hands on my cheeks, looking into my eyes with infinite love and forgiveness.
"You didn't lose us, David," Emily whispered softly. "You broke the cycle. You saved your father, you saved me, and you gave our son a father he can be proud of."
I pulled her close, pressing my lips to hers in a deep, passionate kiss that carried all the promises of our unbroken future.
The dark passage beneath the old house was gone, buried under concrete and flowers.
The lies were destroyed.

The truth had won.
And our family had finally found the light.
