Chapter 6 - The Sanctuary in Beacon HillSix months after the night at the tavern, the warm autumn sun painted the sky over the Moretti Estate in brilliant shades of rose, gold, and deep sapphire.

My seventeen-year-old brother, Leo, sat on the sunny terrace of the estate in a brand-new, high-tech motorized chair, laughing happily as he tossed a ball to a golden retriever puppy Adrian had given him. Under the care of the country's top physical therapists, Leo was regaining sensation in his legs, with doctors predicting a full recovery within a year.

Meanwhile, my life with Adrian transformed into a radiant, sunlit reality.

I no longer worked double shifts under cruel comments. I served as the Chief Director of the Mara Bellamy Foundation for Pediatric & Disability Care—a fifty-million-dollar trust funded by Adrian to provide free medical care, physical therapy, and housing support for families in need across Massachusetts.

On a warm, clear Saturday afternoon in late October, the wide oceanfront terrace of our estate was decorated with blooming yellow sunflowers, white orchids, and sunlit champagne for our official wedding celebration.

Over two hundred prominent business leaders, legal directors, family lieutenants, and close friends gathered around white-linen tables set up along the stone patio overlooking Boston Harbor.

I stood near the marble balustrade wearing a breathtaking, custom ivory silk wedding gown designed to celebrate every magnificent, generous curve of my body. Around my neck rested a delicate platinum necklace holding a flawless seven-carat emerald—Adrian's gift to me.

Down on my left hand rested a seven-carat flawless emerald-cut diamond engagement ring set beside the Moretti signet band.

Adrian walked out onto the terrace wearing an immaculate black tuxedo, stepping up behind me, wrapping his broad, warm arms around my waist, pulling my back flush against his chest.

He pressed a sweet, lingering kiss against my temple, his storm-gray eyes shining with an absolute, unshakeable devotion.

"What are you thinking about, my queen?" Adrian whispered softly into my ear.

I looked out over the vast, sparkling blue waters of Boston Harbor stretching before us into the unbroken horizon, feeling a deep, weightless peace settle into every corner of my soul.

"I was thinking about the five hundred dollars," I answered softly, turning in his arms to rest my hands against his broad chest. "When I thought kissing a stranger in a dark corner was the scariest thing I would ever do."

Adrian offered a rare, breathtaking smile—a look of pure, eternal love that lit up his handsome face.

"You took a dare to save your brother, Mara," Adrian promised, leaning down to press his lips softly, fiercely against mine in a deep, unhurried kiss. "And you ended up saving my soul."
