Chapter 6 - The Festival of the Golden RoseIn late September 2026, ten months after that fateful night at the flower shop, the grand auditorium of the Plaza Hotel in Chicago was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Claire Moretti Heritage & Maternal Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a dark bespoke tuxedo, my broad six-foot-three frame squared, my handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, was me.
Beside me stood Donna Claire Moretti, looking breathtaking in a floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown, alongside our three-year-old twins—Leo and Maya—who wore matching bespoke silk attire, their gray and hazel eyes glowing with happiness.
Around Claire’s neck hung her late mother’s restored silver signet pendant.
I adjusted the microphone, my deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:
"Three years ago, my arrogance and blind foolishness made me lose the greatest blessing of my life," I announced to the silent room, my gray eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable emotion as I looked down at Claire and our children. "And on a rainy night in South Chicago, a brave woman standing in a small flower shop showed me that true love doesn't die... it waits for you to wake up, earn your forgiveness, and bring your family back to the light."
I held my champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To my Chairwoman, my savior, and my two brave little angels: Claire, Leo, and Maya Moretti!"
"To Claire, Leo, and Maya!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
