Chapter 3 - The Assembly at the Grand BallroomAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the grand mahogany assembly hall atop the Chicago Financial Center on Wall Street was packed to absolute capacity.

Over four hundred prominent real estate magnates, syndicate capos, high-society attorneys, and corporate executives gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers for the annual Moretti-Reynolds Heritage Assembly.
Sitting at the head of the raised executive table, wearing an expensive silk suit, holding a silver pen, was sixty-two-year-old Arthur Reynolds. Beside him sat his arrogant daughter, Sophia Reynolds, who wore an ivory designer dress, smirking as they prepared to sign the corporate merger papers that would absorb Alexander’s shipping berths into their shell corporation.
"Gentlemen!" Arthur announced smoothly into the central microphone, his voice dripping with condescending authority, "today we ratify the final merger of the Moretti Logistics Berths under the joint proxy of Reynolds Global, permanently consolidating our maritime holdings—"
BOOM!
The heavy double oak doors of the assembly hall were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!
The chatter of four hundred high-society guests vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.
Walking down the central red-carpeted aisle, flanked by Chief Security Director Marcus Vance and four armed federal marshals, was Alexander Moretti.
I wore a magnificent charcoal bespoke suit, my broad six-foot-three frame squared, radiating an untouchable, sovereign authority that dropped the room's temperature to absolute zero.
And walking right beside me, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk suit that celebrated her graceful, radiant figure, holding our two-year-old twins—Leo and Maya—securely in her arms, was Donna Claire Moretti.
Leo wore a tiny black bespoke suit with a little red tie, his dark hair neat, his gray eyes staring down the boardroom with quiet, unbroken power. Maya wore a matching dark emerald dress, clutching her plush stuffed bear.
Sophia Reynolds dropped her silver pen.
CRASH!
The heavy pen clattered flat against the mahogany table, rolling onto the floor as her face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green. Arthur Reynolds stood up so fast he knocked his leather chair over backward.
"A-ALEXANDER...?! CLAIRE?!" Sophia stammered, taking two panicked steps backward against the window. "WHAT IS THIS ILL-MANNERED INTERRUPTING?! SHE DIVORCED YOU THREE YEARS AGO!"
"She didn't divorce my heart, Sophia," I announced flatly, my deep baritone carrying cleanly across the vast room, dropping the temperature to zero. "She reclaimed her empire."
Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Arthur Reynolds’s trembling hands:
TOTAL CORPORATE RECOVERY: Certified federal enforcement of the Moretti Trust Deeds, transferring fifty-one percent controlling equity directly to Chairwoman Claire Moretti and her legal heirs, Leo and Maya Moretti.
ARREST WARRANTS: Federal arrest warrants served on Arthur Reynolds, Sophia Reynolds, and Claire's former doctor for Premeditated Medical Poisoning, Forgery, Extortion, and $300 Million Wire Fraud.
PERMANENT DISBARMENT: Immediate revocation of all proxy titles held by the Reynolds family across North America.
"THIS IS UNLAWFUL!" Sophia shrieked, thrashing as two uniformed federal marshals stepped forward with heavy steel handcuffs. "YOU SPENT THREE YEARS WITH ME, ALEXANDER! YOU LOVED ME!"
"I never loved you, Sophia," I corrected deadpan, stepping beside Claire, wrapping my broad arm securely around her waist, pulling her flush against my side. "You were a viper who poisoned my wife and stole my children's toddler years. And now you pay the price."

Arthur Reynolds and Sophia Reynolds thrashed and wept hysterical, groveling pleas as marshals locked steel cuffs around their wrists behind their backs, dragging them out of the Chicago Financial Center in total, public disgrace, while television news cameras captured their complete downfall for the morning news.
