Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever HomeSix months after the stormy night on the mountain road, the golden spring sun broke warmly over the soaring stone terraces of the Moretti Estate in Alpine.

The war with the Vane syndicate had ended with absolute, crushing finality.
Vanessa Moretti was permanently exiled from the East Coast under a court-enforced asset surrender, while Julian and Victor Vane were sentenced to twenty-five years in a federal maximum-security penitentiary without the possibility of parole.
Meanwhile, in downtown Manhattan, the Cara Fields Artisanal Bakery opened its grand doors—a sunlit, breathtaking establishment funded by the Moretti Master Trust and co-owned by me.
On a warm, clear Saturday afternoon in late May, the oceanfront terrace of our Alpine estate was illuminated by hundreds of soft, twinkling fairy lights for our wedding celebration.
Over two hundred international partners, legal team members, corporate directors, and close friends gathered around white-linen tables set up along the stone patio overlooking the Hudson River.
I stood near the marble balustrade wearing a breathtaking, floor-length ivory silk gown that caught the afternoon sunlight like liquid gold. Around my neck rested a delicate solitaire diamond necklace—a gift from Dante.
Down on my left hand rested a six-carat flawless emerald-cut diamond ring set in platinum.
Dante walked out onto the terrace wearing an immaculate black tuxedo, stepping up behind me, wrapping his broad, warm arms around my waist, pulling my back flush against his chest.
He pressed a sweet, lingering kiss against my temple, his gray eyes shining with an absolute, unshakeable devotion.
"What are you thinking about, my love?" Dante whispered softly into my ear.
I looked out over the vast, sparkling blue waters of the Hudson River stretching before us into the unbroken horizon, feeling a deep, weightless peace settle into every corner of my soul.
"I was thinking about the night on the mountain road," I answered softly, turning in his arms to rest my hands against his broad chest. "When I pulled a dangerous stranger out of a car."
Dante offered a rare, breathtaking smile—a look of pure, eternal love that lit up his handsome features.
"You pulled a stranger out of the fire, Cara," Dante promised, leaning down to press his lips softly, fiercely against mine in a deep, unhurried kiss. "And you gave him his life."
Leo stepped up onto the primary terrace stage, raising his champagne glass toward the bright blue sky, his deep voice carrying clear and warm across the quiet lawn.
"A toast!" Leo announced cleanly. "To Don Dante and Donna Cara Moretti! The sovereign leaders who rule our network with unbroken strength, light, and eternal love!"
"To Dante and Cara!" the entire terrace echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, two hundred glasses clinking together in the golden sunlight.
Dante raised his glass, taking a slow sip of fine champagne, pulling me tight against his beating heart under the vast, open sky.
There were no twelve-hour shifts at noisy restaurants. There were no betrayals hidden behind velvet curtains. There were no tears swallowed in dark rain.

The lonely waitress was dead forever. The sovereign matriarch had claimed her throne.
And standing under the vast, unbroken sky, wrapped in the arms of the man who loved me, holding my head high, I knew that my life, my heart, and my future were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
