Chapter 7 - The Chandelier and the New DawnThree weeks later, the grand estate in Milan was filled with a different kind of light.

The heavy velvet curtains had been pulled back from every window, letting the golden Mediterranean sun flood into the marble halls. The dark, oppressive aura that had once defined the Duca estate was gone, replaced by the soft, warm laughter of family and the sweet, innocent cries of a newborn infant.

In the nursery—painted a soft, calming shade of sage green—Clara sat in a comfortable rocking chair, cradling their newborn son, Leo. He had his father’s dark hair and Clara’s expressive, bright eyes.

The heavy mahogany dining room downstairs had been completely transformed. The long, dark table remained, but the oppressive formality was gone. In its place stood fresh flowers, bright linens, and an open, welcoming atmosphere. And hanging directly above it was the magnificent crystal chandelier they had chosen together years ago—only now, its light didn't cast shadows over secrets and betrayal. It shone brightly over a family reunited, healed, and reborn.

Vincenzo walked quietly into the nursery, holding a small tray with tea and toast for Clara. He moved with a tenderness that still amazed her—the once-feared underworld king now spent his evenings rocking his son and tending to his wife with absolute devotion.

He set the tray down softly and knelt beside Clara’s chair, gently kissing the tiny, perfect hand of his sleeping son before looking up at Clara with a gaze full of enduring worship.

"How are my favorite people doing?" Vincenzo asked, his voice tender.

Clara smiled, leaning back against the cushions, feeling the warm sunlight wrap around them like a protective embrace. She reached out with her free hand, resting it on Vincenzo’s cheek, feeling the steady, real heartbeat of a man who had walked through fire to find his way back to her.

"We're doing wonderful, Vincenzo," Clara whispered, her eyes shining with peace. "We're finally home."
