Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever SovereignAt 8:30 PM, as the spring sun dipped below the Long Island horizon, painting the sky in sweeping tapestries of indigo and gold, the private terrace was illuminated by dozens of soft, twinkling fairy lights.

Milo, Mason, Max, and Micah ran up the marble steps, throwing their small arms around Mara's legs and my waist.
I dropped onto my knees flat on the stone floorboards, pulling all four of my sons into my broad chest, kissing their foreheads one by one as they giggled happily.
"Daddy!" Milo chimed brightly, pointing toward the sky. "Look! The fireworks are starting!"
Across the dark, sparkling blue waters of Long Island Sound, brilliant bursts of gold, sapphire, and silver light exploded into the night sky, illuminating the smiling faces of our guests gathered on the lawn below.
I stood up, keeping my broad arm wrapped securely around Mara's waist, pulling her and our four sons close against my solid frame.
Marco raised his champagne glass toward our table, his deep baritone carrying cleanly across the quiet grounds.
"To Don Julian, Donna Mara, and the Princes Milo, Mason, Max, and Micah!" Marco toasted with deep, genuine pride. "The sovereign family who rebuilt an empire with unbroken strength, truth, and eternal love!"
"To the Whitaker family!" the entire terrace echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, dozens of crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
There were no corrupt mothers forging extortion letters in dark studies. There were no fake engagements separating our hearts. There were no tears swallowed in cold restaurant kitchens.

The lonely, deceived bachelor was dead forever. The sovereign patriarch had claimed his throne.
And standing under the vast, unbroken sky, wrapped in the arms of the woman who loved every inch of my body and soul, holding my four sons safe in our hands, I knew that my life, my heart, and my family were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
