Chapter 2 - The Admiral’s Wrath and the Securing of Cabo BayWithin twenty minutes, the entire private resort at Cabo San Lucas was transformed into a militarized federal crime scene.

The luxury cabanas, infinity pools, and palm-lined walkways were cordoned off by federal maritime agents and Coast Guard investigators. Tourists were ordered back to their rooms, their phones confiscated if they had recorded any part of the extraction.
As the naval medical helicopter touched down on the resort’s helipad, my father stepped out before the landing gear had even fully settled.
Admiral Hector Sterling, seventy years old with iron-gray hair, a posture carved from granite, and eyes that had commanded carrier strike groups across the globe, strode across the tarmac. He didn't look like a grandfather visiting a resort; he looked like a general surveying a battlefield after an act of war.
He caught sight of me being wheeled out on a gurney toward the chopper, surrounded by military medics.
“Genevieve,” my father breathed, dropping his stoic military composure for a fraction of a second as he rushed to the side of the gurney. He knelt beside me, his weathered hand—calloused from decades of service—gently cupping my pale cheek. “My God, sweetheart... look at you.”
“Dad...” I choked out, a tear breaking free and sliding down my temple. “The baby... they tried to kill the baby.”
My father’s head snapped up. The look in his eyes changed from parental anguish into something so terrifyingly cold that nearby officers instinctively stepped back. He didn't raise his voice, but every word carried the weight of an execution order.
“Who?”
“Julian... and Victoria,” I whispered, closing my eyes as another sharp contraction rippled through my womb.
Before my father could speak, a commotion echoed from the perimeter of the helipad. Two federal agents were dragging a thrashing, screaming Julian Vance forward, while Victoria Hayes was pushed along behind them by a female maritime officer.
“Admiral Sterling! Please, sir, there’s been a massive misunderstanding!” Julian yelled, his expensive linen shirt torn, his hair plastered to his forehead with sweat. He looked pathetic—all the swagger of the billionaire tech mogul completely stripped away. “I’m Julian Vance! Genevieve is my wife! This is a domestic dispute—your men have no right—”
Admiral Sterling stood up slowly. He didn't rush. He walked over to Julian with the terrifying, slow precision of a predator closing in on wounded prey.
When he reached Julian, my father didn't shout. He delivered a single, open-handed backhand strike so violently precise that Julian’s head snapped to the side, sending him sprawling across the asphalt with a split lip and a mouthful of blood.
“You touched my daughter,” Admiral Sterling said, his voice a low, gravelly growl that echoed across the silent tarmac. “You drugged her. You put her and my unborn grandchild on a watercraft to be murdered by your whore while you watched with a glass of scotch.”
“Sir—!” Julian sputtered, spitting blood onto the concrete as two armed marines pinned him face-down by his shoulders.
“You thought Genevieve was just some orphan you picked up ten years ago to fund your pathetic little startup,” my father continued, leaning down until his face was inches from Julian’s ear. “You didn't know who her family was. You didn't know that every patent, every server farm, and every venture capital injection that built Vance Technologies was underwritten by the Sterling Family Trust. And as of three minutes ago, my legal team has frozen every corporate asset, revoked every patent license, and seized every server under federal maritime and national security jurisdiction.”
Julian’s face went the color of curdled milk. He stopped struggling. His eyes rolled back slightly as the sheer magnitude of what he had done—and what he had lost—crashed down on him.

“As for Ms. Hayes,” my father added, turning his chilling gaze toward Victoria, who was shaking violently in handcuffs. “She’s going to spend the next thirty years in a federal penitentiary reflecting on the definition of maritime piracy and attempted murder.”
“Get my daughter on that chopper,” my father barked to the medical team. “And get these two pieces of human garbage into the brig of the cutter. We’re taking them back to U.S. soil to stand trial.”
