Chapter 3 - The Reckoning on the ConcreteEvelyn thrashed her hands against the wet dirt, sobbing frantically as Marco and Leo dragged her up by her elbows, pinning her against the concrete wall.

"Roman! Listen to me!" Evelyn shrieked, tears ruining her expensive makeup. "She's just a servant! She was spying on you! I did this for us! My father's shipping company can double your harbor territory!"
Roman stood up slowly, cradling Nora against his chest as if she were made of delicate glass. He turned his head, his dark eyes locking onto Evelyn with a quiet, weightless disdain that froze the air in her lungs.
"Your father's shipping company was liquidated two hours ago, Evelyn," Roman revealed flatly, every word dropped like an iron weight into the silent room. "My legal team acquired ninety percent of Sterling Logistics at noon. Your family is bankrupt."
Evelyn’s jaw sagged open. "W-what...?"
"And as for you," Roman added, his voice dropping into a deadly, velvet register, "you stole six days of this woman's life. You made her brother cry in an empty apartment."
He looked at Marco.
"Take her to the federal prosecutor's office. Hand over the recorded wiretaps from her phone and the footage from this warehouse. Make sure she spends the next twenty years in a state penitentiary without bail."
"NO! ROMAN! PLEASE!" Evelyn screamed frantically, thrashing against Marco’s grip as she was dragged out through the shattered doorway, her cries echoing pathetically down the alleyway until they were swallowed by the rain.
Nora rested her head against Roman’s shoulder, her small fingers clutching weakly at the lapel of his coat.

"Caleb..." she rasped out, her consciousness slipping away into the warm darkness. "Please... Caleb..."
"He's safe, Nora," Roman promised, wrapping his heavy coat around her shivering body as he carried her out into the sunlit rain. "I'm taking you both home."
