Chapter 5 - The Reconstruction of HomeBy 3:00 AM, the executive penthouse on the top floor of the Moretti Grand Hotel was wrapped in a deep, weightless peace.

In the master guest suite, six-year-old Noah and Lily lay fast asleep inside a massive king-sized bed, wrapped in warm fleece blankets, their breathing soft, rhythmic, and unbroken. Lily’s small arm was draped over her stuffed bear, while Noah slept on his side, his face relaxed and peaceful for the first time in years.

Isabella stood near the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the living room, holding a warm cup of chamomile tea, looking out at the city lights reflecting off the dark surface of Lake Michigan.

The soft rustle of footsteps sounded behind her.

Dante stepped out onto the plush carpet, wearing a comfortable black silk shirt with his sleeves rolled back to his forearms, carrying a second glass of warm tea. He stopped two inches from her side, respecting her space, looking out at the skyline beside her.

"The federal court executed the asset seizure orders twenty minutes ago, Isabella," Dante spoke softly, his baritone genuine and calm. "Arthur Vance's entire estate has been liquidated. Sixty percent of the proceeds have been legally placed into an irrevocable medical and educational trust for Noah and Lily."

Isabella took a slow sip of her tea, feeling the warm liquid settle into her chest. "Thank you, Dante."

Dante turned his head, looking down at her profile—taking in the soft curve of her jaw, the glossy waves of her dark hair, and the hazel eyes that had haunted every single night of his life for seven years.

"I don't want your thanks, Isabella," Dante confessed raspy, his voice thick with a profound, aching vulnerability. "I want to spend the rest of my life earning your forgiveness."

Isabella turned to face him, setting her teacup down on the wide marble window sill.

"You don't have to earn my forgiveness for what Arthur Vance did, Dante," Isabella whispered softly. "You only have to prove to Noah and Lily that their father is never going to let them go again."

Dante reached out, his broad, warm hands coming up to gently, reverently frame her face. His thumb stroked her cheekbone with an unexpected, breathtaking tenderness that made her pulse leap against her throat.

"I will build a wall around this family that no one in this world can break, Isabella," Dante promised into the quiet air, his gray eyes burning with an unshakeable, eternal covenant. "I swear it on my soul."
