Chapter 3 - The Gathering Storm in the BallroomBy 10:30 PM, the grand ballroom of the Moretti Grand Hotel had been completely cleared of civilian donors, socialites, and media personnel under the guise of a private security lockdown.

The heavy mahogany double doors were locked from the inside by Dante’s elite tactical operators, while thirty broad-shouldered men in dark suits stood posted along the upper balconies, their hands resting on concealed automatic weapons.
Sitting at the central VIP table, wearing an expensive tailored suit, holding a crystal glass of bourbon, was sixty-two-year-old Arthur Vance—the senior trustee who had spent seven years manipulating the Moretti family's corporate assets.
Beside him stood his daughter, Vanessa Caldwell, her face flushed with bitter, frantic rage.
"This is an absolute farce, Arthur!" Vanessa hissed, clutching her leather handbag. "Dante locked the entire hotel down because that pathetic woman showed up with two illegitimate street rats! He humiliated me in front of the entire foundation board!"
"Control yourself, Vanessa," Arthur Vance warned smoothly, taking a slow sip of his bourbon. "Isabella Bennett has been living in a two-bedroom apartment in Milwaukee on a waitress's wage for six years. She has no money, no legal representation, and no proof of paternity. When the board sees the DNA injunction I filed thirty minutes ago, Dante will have no choice but to strip her of any custodial claims."
BOOM!
The massive, reinforced double doors at the rear of the ballroom were thrown open with thunderous force.
The heavy oak doors slammed against the marble pillars, sending a sharp, echoing crack through the vast room.
Walking down the central carpeted aisle, flanked by Marco and twenty armed Moretti operators, was Dante.
He wore his dark wool overcoat over his unbuttoned tuxedo, his hands tucked casually into his pockets, his posture relaxed, fluid, and terrifyingly absolute.
Walking beside his right shoulder, her spine straight, her posture regal, wearing a sleek, tailored dark wool coat provided by Dante’s private stylist, was Isabella. Her dark hair fell in glossy waves over her shoulders, her hazel eyes holding zero fear, zero hesitation, and absolute victory.
Arthur Vance set his bourbon glass down slowly on the table, his confident, arrogant smile faltering slightly as he saw the absolute, unshakeable unity between the man he had manipulated and the woman he had tried to destroy.
"Dante," Arthur spoke, standing up and smoothing his suit jacket. "I see you brought your former wife back into a official family venue. I must remind you that under the 2019 Moretti Corporate Bylaws, any individual accused of financial espionage against the estate—"
"Read the room, Arthur," Dante interrupted.
His deep baritone carried across the silent ballroom like a rolling wave of thunder, freezing the blood in Vanessa’s veins.
Dante walked straight to the VIP table, stopping three feet from Arthur Vance, his pale gray eyes fixing on the old man with a cold, lethal intensity.
"Seven years ago," Dante stated flatly, every word dropped like a block of iron onto the floorboards, "you handed me a certified audit claiming Isabella had transferred four million dollars from the Moretti Logistics account into a Swiss shell company."
Arthur narrowed his eyes slightly. "The paper trail was verified by our internal auditors, Dante—"
"The paper trail was forged by your private firm in Zurich, Arthur," Dante corrected cleanly.

Marco stepped forward, slamming a thick leather binder flat onto the glass table directly in front of Arthur Vance.
"And forty minutes ago," Marco added smoothly, "our cyber-forensics team extracted six hundred encrypted communications between your private server and the Moretti family’s secondary rivals in New Jersey."
