Chapter 4 - The Execution of Protocol BlackBy 6:00 AM, the total, apocalyptic destruction of the Sterling family’s corporate and personal empire was executing with mechanical, terrifying precision across New York and Connecticut.

Inside the fifth-floor administrative conference room at Saint Jude Medical Center, Arthur Sterling and his eight sons sat bound to high-backed chairs, flanked by eight armed Vance operators.
On the central mahogany table lay nine tablet screens, each displaying high-definition live feeds of their respective bank accounts, real estate holdings, and commercial interests.
Julian Sterling—the brother who had paid Dr. Hayes—sat weeping frantically, his nose bleeding, his expensive tailored shirt torn at the collar.
"PLEASE!" Julian shrieked, his voice cracking into high, pathetic squeaks as he looked at Marco. "WE CAN PAY REPARATION! WE HAVE FORTY MILLION IN COMMERCIAL ASSETS! WE'LL GIVE IT ALL TO CLARA!"
THWACK!
Marco delivered a swift, backhand slap across Julian’s face that sent him reeling sideways against his bonds. "Keep her name out of your filthy mouth."
The double doors of the conference room swung open.
I walked into the room wearing a tailored midnight-blue suit, my dark hair styled back, my gold signet ring gleaming under the fluorescent lights.
Behind me walked Lead Prosecutor Rachel Vance from the United States Attorney’s Office and two Senior Special Agents from the IRS Criminal Investigation Division.
When Arthur Sterling saw me, his face contorted into a desperate, groveling mask.
"Adrian! Son-in-law!" Arthur wept, pressing his bound hands against his chest. "Listen to me! We were tricked! Julian led the attack! He convinced his brothers that Clara was going to write us out of the grandfather's trust! I tried to stop them!"
I stopped two feet from the head of the table. I didn't raise my voice. I didn't show anger.
"You didn't try to stop them, Arthur," I noted softly, tapping the screen of the central tablet to project certified financial records onto the wall display. "You authorized the fifty-thousand-dollar wire transfer to Dr. Hayes at eleven-forty p.m. last night from your personal Cayman trust."
Arthur’s jaw sagged open. Every drop of blood drained from his face, leaving him looking like a hollowed-out corpse.

Prosecutor Rachel Vance stepped forward, pulling a thick stack of federal arrest warrants signed by the Chief Federal District Judge.
"Arthur Sterling and Sons," Prosecutor Vance announced flatly. "Under the provisions of the Federal RICO Act and the Emergency Violent Crimes Statute, every asset registered under Sterling Enterprises has been seized by the Federal Government."
