Chapter 5 - The Collapse of the CartelWhile Blake stood paralyzed in the private lounge, the fallout outside was spreading like wildfire through the ballroom.

When Sloane and Eleanor realized that the mysterious billionaire chairwoman who had just publicly humiliated the company was none other than the "helpless housewife" they had mocked and dismissed for nearly a decade, the shockwave was seismic.

Sloane tried to slip out the side exit of the ballroom, hoping to disappear into the night before the press caught wind of the executive purge. But my security team intercepted her before she even reached the revolving doors.

"Ms. Wallace?" a tall, sharp-suited corporate security director stepped into her path, his voice clipped and professional.

Sloane clutched her burgundy evening gown around her, her face pale under layers of heavy makeup. "I'm leaving. Move out of my way."

"The internal compliance audit has flagged multiple discrepancies in your departmental expense reports," the director said smoothly, holding out a thick manila envelope. "Specifically regarding unauthorized luxury travel expenses, fabricated consulting fees, and conflict-of-interest kickbacks channeled through shell entities in the Cayman Islands. You are hereby suspended from your position as Vice President of Winslow Development, effective immediately."

"You can't do this!" Sloane shrieked, her voice echoing across the marble lobby as a few lingering socialites turned to stare. "I am second-in-command! Blake and I built this company's culture! You have no proof—"

"The federal investigators already have the server backups," the director replied flatly. "Your security badge has been deactivated. Surrender your corporate phone and building access card."

Trembling with rage and humiliation, Sloane ripped her corporate ID badge from her dress, threw it at his feet, and stormed out into the rain, her designer heels clicking frantically against the pavement as she realized she had hitched her wagon to a man who owned nothing at all.

Meanwhile, back in the VIP seating area, Eleanor Vance was experiencing her own public meltdown.

When venue staff politely informed her that her seating privileges had been revoked and her family's complimentary catering account frozen, she stood up, her face turning crimson with aristocratic fury.

"Do you know who I am?" Eleanor hissed at the venue manager, her voice dripping with venom. "I am Eleanor Vance! My son is the head of Winslow Development! We run this city's social circuit!"

"Not anymore, ma'in," the manager replied with icy politeness, gesturing toward the exit. "Management takes its orders directly from the chairwoman. And right now, the chairwoman wants this section cleared."

Chloe, holding her phone with a live-streaming app still active, was frantically trying to delete her earlier stories where she had mocked my absence, but thousands of viewers had already screen-recorded her commentary. The internet was moving faster than a wildfire: #WinslowScandal #BillionaireWifeRevenge #TheRealCEO were already trending at the top of national search results.

The Vance cartel had built their entire identity on sand. And now, the tide was coming in.
