Chapter 6 - The Fall of the Lawson EmpireRichard Lawson let out a guttural, frantic shriek, lowering his flare gun as his hands shook in total, terrified panic.

Before he could react, Vincent Castellano’s chief security team moved in with blinding speed.

THWIP! THWIP!

Two suppressed rounds disabled Richard’s armed lieutenants, while Marco tackled Richard directly onto the wet concrete, disarming the flare gun and locking heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.

CLICK. CLICK.

"GET OFF ME! YOU BASTARDS!" Richard screamed, thrashing wildly as federal marshals stepped out from the shadows to take custody of him.

Vincent Castellano walked across the wet concrete, stopping beside Amelia, placing his heavy wool coat around her shoulders to shield her from the cold rain.

He looked down at Richard Lawson groveling in handcuffs on the pavement, then looked up at Amelia with a depth of profound, fatherly pride that made tears warm her eyes.

"You didn't just save these docks tonight, Amelia," Vincent whispered softly into the rain. "You claimed your heritage."

Within forty-eight hours, the Lawson Commercial Real Estate firm was completely dismantled.

Richard Lawson and Derek Lawson were convicted of High Federal Extortion, Forgery, and Attempted Arson, receiving thirty-year and fifteen-year sentences respectively in a federal maximum-security facility without the possibility of parole.
