Chapter 7 - The Sovereign HorizonThree years after the storm, the Mediterranean sun beamed down brilliantly over the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast in southern Italy.

Ava stood on the private terrace of a breathtaking cliffside estate she had commissioned as an international creative retreat for young architects and engineers. Below her, the deep blue waves of the sea crashed gently against the rocks, and the warm air was rich with the scent of lemon blossoms, sea salt, and blooming bougainvillea.

Her phone chimed softly on the marble table.

It was an encrypted message from Marcus Vance: “Global infrastructure index just closed, Ava. Montgomery Global has officially completed the acquisition of the European transit corridor. Market valuation is at an all-time high. Enjoy your holiday in Italy. You earned every single inch of it.”

Ava smiled, typing back: “Thank you, Marcus. Let's reinvest fifteen percent into the global sustainable energy fund. I'll be back in New York next month for the board meeting.”

She locked her phone, placed it down, and walked to the edge of the stone balcony.

She wore a simple white linen sundress, her hair flowing freely in the warm coastal breeze. There were no fake smiles to maintain, no arrogant fiances to manage, no toxic old-money expectations to fulfill.

She had conquered the corporate world not by playing their rigged game, but by owning the board.

The woman who had stood outside a hotel bridal suite listening to a cruel laugh was a lifetime away. In her place stood Ava Montgomery—sovereign, unbreakable, and entirely free.

She raised a glass of chilled Italian wine toward the horizon, making a silent toast to the journey that brought her here.

She wasn't a temporary bride.

She was the queen of her own empire—and her reign had only just begun.
