"He’s trying to trigger a federal audit on your import licenses by creating a high-profile contraband seizure. If the SEC or federal marshals raid Newark, your entire logistics network gets frozen."
Roman stared at her, stunned not just by her tactical clarity, but by how fearlessly she stood beside him, her hair falling loose over her shoulders, wearing a simple cashmere sweater instead of a gala gown. "How do you know about federal audit triggers?"
"My grandfather built the Whitmore shipping empire before my father gambled it away," Elena reminded him softly. "I grew up at these docks, Roman. I know every loophole, every shell corporation, and every shadow ledger Vance uses to hide his kickbacks."
She pulled a flash drive from her pocket—a drive she had quietly retrieved from her father’s old study before her wedding. "My father kept records of every illegal payoff Vance made to the union bosses ten years ago. If we drop this data to the federal prosecutor's office anonymously while simultaneously freezing Vance's real estate trusts using my family's remaining legal proxies..."
"...Vance will be fighting federal indictments before he even realizes his ships have been impounded," Roman finished, a slow, dangerous smile finally breaking through his hard expression.
