Chapter 6 - The New Dynasty

One year later, the sprawling estate in upstate New York was alive with the sound of laughter, music, and pattering footsteps.

The sun was warm and golden, casting long beams of light across the emerald-green lawns that stretched down toward the private lake. Under a massive white floral pavilion adorned with white roses and cascading ivy, family, trusted friends, and close allies had gathered not for a society sham, but for a celebration of genuine survival and unconditional love.

I stood in front of the full-length mirror in the bridal suite, smoothing down the cascading silk of my gown. It was classic, elegant, and entirely mine.

A soft knock sounded at the door, and Dominic walked in. He looked breathtaking in a tailored navy tuxedo, his dark hair slightly tousled, his eyes softening the instant they landed on me. He stopped in his tracks, staring at me as if I were the only person in the universe.

"You take my breath away, Claire," he murmured, walking across the room and taking my hands in his.

"You say that like you didn't see me in sweatpants yesterday covered in baby puree," I teased gently, though my heart was hammering just as wildly as it had on our first date.

"You were stunning then, too," Dominic replied, pressing a tender kiss to my palm.

Suddenly, the door swung open wider, and a tiny giggle echoed through the room.

Little Lyra, now just over a year old and walking with charming, wobbly determination, toddled into the room wearing a miniature white tulle dress with a matching flower crown in her dark curls. In her tiny hands, she clutched a basket of rose petals, dropping half of them onto the rug before she even reached us.

"Dada!" Lyra squealed, holding her arms up toward Dominic with a bright, gummy smile that melted both of our hearts instantly.

Dominic chuckled, scooping our daughter up into his arms with effortless grace, pressing a loud kiss to her cheek as she giggled uncontrollably. He looked at me, then down at Lyra, his eyes shining with an emotion so deep and fierce it defied description.

"Are you ready to go meet our guests, Mrs. Moretti?" Dominic asked softly.

May you like

I smiled, taking his free arm, feeling the solid, unbreakable bond of the family we had forged together out of the wreckage of my past.

"I've never been more ready," I said.
