Chapter 5 - The Confession on Live TelevisionThe media explosion that followed my walk across that stage was immediate and cataclysmic.

Within minutes, financial news networks interrupted their regular broadcasts to air live footage from the auditorium. The headline flashing across screens worldwide read: TYCOON ETHAN STERLING RISES FROM THE DEAD; WIDOW ACCUSED IN SHOCKING ASSASSINATION PLOT.

Security guards, acting under Harrison Vance's direct orders, moved swiftly down the aisles, locking all exit doors and cutting off all unauthorized cellular transmissions to prevent any accomplices from tipping off outsiders.

Olivia stood paralyzed at the podium, her immaculate black veil sliding off her shoulder and pooling on the stage floor. The mask of the grieving widow had completely shattered, revealing the desperate, cornered animal underneath.

"Guards! Remove her from the stage," I commanded quietly, stepping past her to take my rightful place at the center microphone.

Two burly corporate security officers stepped forward, grabbing Olivia firmly by both arms. She didn't fight them physically; she just stared at me with eyes full of pure, unadulterated venom.

"You planned this! You set me up!" she screamed, her voice echoing shrilly through the silent auditorium as they dragged her toward the side exit. "You ruined everything, Ethan! I hated every minute of pretending to love you! I hated your money, I hated your face, and I hope you rot in hell!"

The heavy oak doors slammed shut behind her, cutting off her hysterical shrieks.

I turned back to the stunned board members and the sea of journalists holding recording devices. I didn't flinch. I adjusted the microphone stand, my voice steady and completely composed.

"Ladies and gentlemen," I began, addressing the room with absolute authority. "What you just witnessed was not a tragedy, but an attempted corporate assassination orchestrated by my wife, Olivia Sterling, and my physical therapist, Mason Drake, who has also just been detained by federal marshals in the lobby."

A murmur of shock rippled through the press gallery.

"For the past ninety days, I was systematically poisoned with a synthetic neurotoxin designed to mimic natural cardiac arrest," I continued, projecting my voice across the hall. "Every medical report, every financial transfer, and every piece of forged estate paperwork has been handed over to the Department of Justice. As of this moment, Olivia Sterling has been stripped of all marital rights, all corporate shares, and all claims to my estate under the 'Slayer Rule' of civil and criminal law."

Harrison Vance stood up from the front row, offering a slow, respectful round of applause that quickly cascaded into a roaring standing ovation from the entire board of directors.

I held up a hand to quiet the room. The game wasn't over yet. There was still one loose end left to tie up before the night was through.
