Chapter 3 - The Assembly at the Boston Financial CenterAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the grand mahogany boardroom atop the forty-story Boston Financial Center was packed to absolute capacity.

Over three hundred high-society investors, commercial shipping directors, syndicate capos, and federal prosecutors sat around a thirty-foot carved walnut table beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers for the annual North Atlantic Maritime Assembly.
Sitting at the head of the table, wearing a dark red designer suit, holding a silver pen, was sixty-two-year-old Victor Vance—Frankie’s corrupt uncle. Beside him sat his superficial prospective daughter-in-law, Vanessa Vance, who wore an expensive designer dress, smirking as they prepared to sign the corporate acquisition papers that would absorb the Blackwood shipping berths.
"Gentlemen!" Victor announced into the central microphone, his voice dripping with condescending authority, "today we ratify the corporate merger of Blackwood Maritime into Vance Logistics, permanently retiring the administrative claims of Don Damen Blackwood—"
BOOM!
The heavy double oak doors of the executive boardroom were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!
The chatter of three hundred high-society guests vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.
Walking down the central red carpet, flanked by Chief Security Director Marcus Vance and four armed federal marshals, was Damen Blackwood.
He wore a dark bespoke charcoal suit, his broad six-foot-four frame squared, radiating an untouchable, sovereign authority that dropped the room's temperature to absolute zero.
And walking right beside him, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk gown that celebrated her graceful figure, her dark hair styled in glossy waves over her shoulders, her hazel eyes burning with absolute, sovereign victory... was Donna Clara Mitchell-Blackwood.
She held a sleek leather folder in her hand, her posture regal, her presence radiating an unshakeable, diamond-hard power that dominated the entire room.
Vanessa Vance dropped her silver pen.
CRASH!
The heavy pen clattered flat against the mahogany table, rolling onto the floor as her face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green. Victor Vance stood up so fast he knocked his leather chair over backward.
"V-VICTOR...?! DAMEN?! CLARA?!" Vanessa stammered, taking two panicked steps backward against the window. "WHAT IS THIS ILL-MANNERED INTERRUPTING?! SHE IS JUST A CHEAP BAKER!"
"She isn't a baker, Vanessa," Damen announced flatly, his deep baritone carrying cleanly across the vast room, dropping the temperature to zero. "She is the Executive Chairwoman of the Mitchell-Blackwood Heritage Trust... and the owner of your shipping berths."
Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Victor Vance’s trembling hands:
TOTAL MARITIME RECOVERY: Certified federal enforcement of the Mitchell Trust Deeds, transferring fifty-one percent controlling common stock equity directly to Chairwoman Clara Mitchell-Blackwood.
ARREST WARRANTS: International arrest warrants served on Victor Vance and Frankie Vance for Attempted First-Degree Premeditated Murder, Armed Assault, Extortion, and $30 Million Embezzlement.
IMMEDIATE TERMINATION: Permanent revocation of all board titles and operational credentials held by the Vance family across North America.
"WHAT IS THIS?!" Vanessa shrieked, thrashing as two uniformed federal marshals stepped forward with heavy steel handcuffs. "YOU CAN'T SEIZE OUR BERTHS FOR A BAKER'S ACCUSATION!"
"She isn't an accusation, Vanessa," Damen corrected deadpan, stepping beside my chair, wrapping his broad, warm arm securely around my waist, pulling me flush against his side. "She is my wife. And she owns your entire life."
