Chapter 7 - A Kingdom of Our OwnMidnight had long since passed by the time our car pulled back through the wrought-iron gates of the Greenwich estate.

The snow had begun to fall, dusting the sprawling lawns and the grand stone pillars with a pristine, glittering blanket of white. Inside the mansion, the lights were warm and inviting, echoing with the distant sound of Lily laughing upstairs as she settled into her new bedroom.
Nathan and I walked up the grand staircase together, our fingers tightly interlocked.
When we reached the master suite, Nathan opened the heavy oak door, gently pushing me inside before closing it against the quiet night.
He pulled me into his arms, his dark eyes shining with an emotion so deep and fierce it took my breath away.
“You know,” Nathan murmured, his voice thick with emotion, “the night of our wedding, I thought I was the luckiest man in the world because I had married a woman with a heart of gold.”
He reached up, gently brushing a stray lock of hair from my forehead.
“And now?” I whispered, smiling.
“Now I know I didn't just marry a woman with a heart of gold,” Nathan said, pressing his forehead gently against mine. “I married a general, a savior, and the only queen I will ever bow to.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him down into a long, tender kiss that melted away every remaining shadow of the past.
We had started in the shadows—me scrubbing the floors of a world that refused to see me, him trapped in a golden cage of expectations and lies. But through fire, truth, and unyielding love, we had torn down the walls that separated us and built something far greater than any corporation or estate.

We had built a kingdom of our own.
And as the snow fell softly over Greenwich, I knew that for the first time in my life, I was truly, perfectly home.
