Chapter 5 - Breach at the CliffsideThe front door of the cottage didn't just open; it splintered inward with a deafening crash as a heavy steel battering ram smashed through the oak frame.

Three men in tactical black gear poured into the dimly lit living room, their submachine guns raised, sweeping the corners with laser sights.

"Clear!" the lead enforcer barked, his voice distorted by a balaclava.

"Clear left!" the second man muttered.

They moved through the living room toward the kitchen, expecting resistance. Instead, they found Jillian sitting calmly at the wooden table, the encrypted laptop glowing in front of her, illuminating her pale face in the dark room.

The lead enforcer lowered his weapon slightly, laughing harshly beneath his mask. "Well, look at that. Mrs. Bannon waiting patiently for her ride home."

Jillian didn't flinch. She kept her hands flat on the table, right where the hidden micro-cameras could capture them. "You're trespassing on Carbone property."

"Carbone property?" The enforcer stepped closer, grabbing the edge of the table and leaning down. "Carbone is old news, lady. And you're coming with us. Hand over the laptop. Now."

Before Jillian could speak, the kitchen doorway behind the enforcers slammed shut with a heavy, automated thud.

The men spun around, raising their weapons.

From the shadows of the hallway, Emmett Carbone stepped forward. He wasn't holding a gun. He held a heavy silver-topped walking cane, his posture completely relaxed, his silver hair catching the amber light of the emergency exit signs.

"You boys are a long way from the waterfront," Emmett said softly.

The lead enforcer raised his rifle, aiming directly at Emmett's chest. "Drop the act, Carbone. We take the woman, we take the drive, and we leave. You make a move, and we paint this kitchen with your brains."

Emmett smiled—a cold, humorless expression that didn't reach his eyes. "Look up, gentlemen."

The three enforcers hesitated, glancing upward.

Mounted in the corners of the ceiling, four small infrared cameras blinked with steady green indicator lights.

"Every word you've spoken," Emmett continued, his voice echoing in the quiet room, "every threat you've made, and every firearm you are illegally carrying inside a private residence is currently being encrypted and transmitted in real-time to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Organized Crime Strike Force in Boston. In fact... the U.S. Attorney received the complete Bannon financial ledger ten minutes ago."

The enforcer's eyes widened behind his mask. "You son of a bitch—"

He swung his rifle toward Emmett, but before his finger could squeeze the trigger, Frank dropped from the ceiling access panel behind them, bringing the heavy butt of a tactical shotgun down across the enforcer's shoulder with a sickening crunch.

The man collapsed instantly. The second enforcer tried to raise his weapon, but Frank swept his legs out from under him, pinning him to the floor with a boot across his throat.

The third man threw his hands up, dropping his weapon onto the hardwood floor. "Don't shoot! Don't shoot!"

Silence descended on the kitchen, broken only by the hum of the laptop uploading the final gigabytes of data to federal servers.

Emmett stepped over the downed enforcer, walking slowly toward Jillian. He reached out and closed the lid of the laptop.

"It's done," Emmett said quietly. "The Bannon syndicate is officially history."
