Chapter 6 - The Festival of the Golden HearthIn late September 2026, ten months after that terrifying night in the neonatal suite, the grand ballroom of the Drake Hotel in Chicago was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Rachel & Leo Russo Pediatric & Integrity Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated her tall, radiant figure, was Donna Rachel Jenkins-Russo.

Around her neck hung her late mother-in-law Camille's restored silver signet pendant, her dark brown hair falling in glossy waves over her shoulders, her hazel eyes burning with absolute, unshakeable victory, inner peace, and sovereign grace.

Beside the stage stood ten-month-old Leo, sitting happily in a plush velvet stroller, holding a toy wooden elephant, alongside Michael Jenkins, Bridget Colton, and Marcus Vance.

And standing on her right, wearing an magnificent charcoal bespoke tuxedo, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, his handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, was Daniel Russo.

Daniel stepped up to the microphone beside her, wrapping his broad, warm arm securely around her waist, his deep baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"Ten months ago, my premature son screamed for fourteen days because the world felt too cold and violent," Daniel announced to the silent room, his storm-gray eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable devotion as he looked down at Rachel and Leo. "And on that night, a brave nurse walked into his room, held him against her heart... and brought my entire world back to the light."

Daniel held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.
