Chapter 3 - The Assembly at the St. RegisAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the grand mahogany ballroom of the St. Regis Hotel in downtown Manhattan was packed to absolute capacity.

Over three hundred high-society investors, syndicate capos, city officials, and media reporters gathered beneath glittering crystal chandeliers for the Whitmore Logistics Emergency Syndicate Council.
Standing at the central podium, wearing an expensive gray silk suit, holding a glass of vintage champagne, was sixty-two-year-old Richard Whitmore. Beside him stood Vanessa Whitmore, wearing a champagne-colored silk gown, smirking as she prepared to sign the corporate proxy papers that would strip Vincent of his shipping authority.
"Gentlemen!" Richard announced into the microphone, his voice dripping with aristocratic greed, "today we vote to permanently revoke Don Vincent Moretti’s executive status due to his erratic, unprovoked termination of our corporate marriage contract—"
BOOM!
The heavy double oak doors of the grand ballroom were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!
The chatter of three hundred high-society guests vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.
Walking down the central red-carpeted aisle, flanked by Chief Security Director Marcus Vance and four armed federal marshals, was Vincent Moretti.
He wore a dark charcoal bespoke suit, his broad six-foot-four frame radiating an untouchable, sovereign authority that dropped the room's temperature to absolute zero.
And walking right beside him... was me.
I wore a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated my graceful figure. My dark hair fell in glossy waves over my shoulders, my hazel eyes burning with an unshakeable, radiant peace and sovereign victory.
Around my neck hung my late father’s silver aerial medal.
Vanessa Whitmore dropped her champagne glass.
CRASH!
The crystal glass shattered flat against the parquet floorboards, sparkling wine splashing over her designer shoes. Her face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green.
"G-GRACE...?! VINCENT?!" Richard Whitmore stammered, his voice cracking into a high, pathetic thread. "WHAT IS THIS ILL-MANNERED INTERRUPTING?! SHE IS JUST A FIRED MAID!"
"She isn't a maid, Richard," I announced flatly, my clear, silver voice carrying cleanly across the silent ballroom, dropping the temperature to zero. "She is the Executive Chairwoman of the Vance-Mitchell Trust... and the owner of your shipping berths."
Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Richard Whitmore’s trembling hands:
TOTAL ASSET RECOVERY: Certified federal enforcement of the Mitchell Trust Deeds, transferring 100% controlling equity in Whitmore Logistics directly to Chairwoman Grace Mitchell.
ARREST WARRANTS: International arrest warrants served on Richard Whitmore and Vanessa Whitmore for First-Degree Premeditated Attempted Murder (in the 2020 Chicago sabotage), Evidence Tampering, and $30 Million Embezzlement.
PROMISE ENFORCEMENT: Civil court order levying an immediate $10 million execution penalty directly against Vanessa Whitmore’s personal accounts for breach of public contract.
"WHAT IS THIS?!" Vanessa shrieked, thrashing as two uniformed federal marshals stepped forward with heavy steel handcuffs. "YOU CAN'T ARREST ME FOR A MAID'S ACCIDENT!"
"It wasn't an accident, Vanessa," Vincent corrected deadpan, his gray eyes flashing with a cold, lethal fire. "It was murder. And now you pay the price."
