Chapter 6 - The Festival of the Golden SwanIn late September 2026, nine months after that fateful gala, the grand auditorium of the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Emma Bennett International Dance Gala.

Over two thousand prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and world-renowned arts matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the center of the main stage, wearing a breathtaking custom-designed ivory silk ballet gown trimmed with silver crystals, her dark hair styled in a sparkling crown, was me.

Around my neck hung my late father Arthur Bennett's vintage silver signet pendant, my hazel eyes burning with absolute, unshakeable victory, inner peace, and sovereign grace.

Beside the stage stood my mother, looking healthy and radiant in a navy lace gown, alongside Bridget Colton and Marcus Vance.

And standing on my right, wearing an magnificent charcoal bespoke tuxedo, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, his handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, was Nathaniel Cross.

Nathaniel stepped up to the podium beside me, wrapping his broad, warm arm securely around my waist, his deep baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"Nine months ago, I offered a fifty-thousand-dollar bet to a woman in a server's apron," Nathaniel announced to the silent auditorium, his gray-blue eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable devotion as he looked down at me. "And on that night, the bravest dancer in the world took her first step, shattered a five-year lie, and brought my entire world back to the light."

Nathaniel held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.
