Chapter 7 - The Kingdom of LightOne year later, on a bright, sunlit autumn afternoon, the grand dining room of the Caruso estate was filled with light, laughter, and the mouth-watering aroma of fresh roast chicken, baked bread, and chocolate cake.

Around the massive thirty-foot mahogany table—the same table where twelve dangerous men had once sat in cold, terrifying silence—sat thirty people.
Housekeepers, cooks, security guards, gardeners, and neighborhood friends sat side-by-side, sharing passing platters of food, laughing, and clinking glasses together in warm, joyous celebration.
At the head of the table sat Vincent Caruso, wearing a comfortable linen shirt, his gray eyes bright and peaceful as he poured fresh orange juice for the young groundskeeper sitting beside him.
Beside him sat Rachel, looking radiant and beautiful in a soft yellow dress, holding his hand tightly beneath the tablecloth.
And sitting right in the center of the table, wearing her pink socks and a small chef's apron, was seven-year-old Emma, happily handing a large slice of chocolate cake to Marco.
"See, Mister Vincent?" Emma called out across the table, her hazel eyes shining like bright stars. "I told you everybody should eat together!"
Vincent looked around the loud, warm, and sunlit dining room—at the happy faces of the people who worked in his home, at his beautiful wife holding his hand, and at the brave little girl who had walked into his dark world two years ago and demanded he be a better boss.
He reached into his jacket pocket, touched the silver locket resting over his heart, and let out a deep, genuine laugh that echoed warmly off the high plaster ceilings.

"You were right, Emma," Vincent Caruso swore softly under the golden sunlight. "You were right about everything."
Outside the grand gates of the estate, the city of New York continued to spin, but standing inside the sunlit sanctuary of their unbroken home, the darkness was gone forever—their lives, their peace, and their future were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
