Chapter 3 - The Assembly at the Varenna TowerAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the grand mahogany boardroom atop the forty-story Vescari Tower on Michigan Avenue was packed to absolute capacity.

Over fifty senior syndicate capos, commercial logistics directors, high-society attorneys, and corporate shareholders sat around the massive forty-foot carved walnut table beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Sitting at the head of the table, wearing a tailored charcoal suit, holding a silver pen, was forty-five-year-old Julian Moretti—my arrogant, greedy underboss. Beside him sat his corrupt attorney, Richard Sterling-Smith, smirking as they prepared to sign the final liquidation papers for the Vescari docks.
"Gentlemen," Julian announced into the central microphone, his voice dripping with condescending authority, "today we finalize the corporate merger of Vescari Logistics into Moretti Global, permanently retiring the legacy of the late Dominic Vescari, who unfortunately perished in an apartment fire last night—"
BOOM!
The heavy double oak doors of the executive boardroom were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!
The chatter of fifty corporate executives vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.
Walking down the central red carpet, flanked by Chief Security Director Vincent Vance and four armed federal marshals, was me.
I wore a magnificent dark charcoal bespoke suit, my tall six-foot-five frame radiating an untouchable, sovereign authority that dropped the room's temperature to absolute zero.
And walking right beside me, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark navy silk dress that celebrated her graceful, restored figure, holding six-year-old Lily by her hand, was my sister, Donna Isabella Vescari.
Lily wore a sweet white princess dress, holding her drawing pad against her chest, her hazel eyes bright and unbroken.
Julian Moretti dropped his silver pen.
The heavy metal clattered flat against the hardwood table, echoing through the silent room, as his face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green.
"J-JULIAN...?! DOMINIC?! ISABELLA?!" Julian stammered, taking two panicked steps backward against his chair. "WHAT IS THIS ILL-MANNERED INTERRUPTING?! YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD!"
"You should have bought a better lock, Julian," I announced flatly, my deep baritone carrying cleanly across the vast room, dropping the room's temperature to zero.
I walked steadily past the gaping executives, stopping at the head of the table. I pulled out the heavy leather executive chair, turning to face Isabella and Lily.
"Sit, Isabella," I said gently, my gray eyes softening with immense respect as I pulled out the chair for my sister.
Isabella sat down smoothly, holding Lily on her lap, while I stood beside her chair like an unshakeable, towering fortress.
Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Julian’s trembling hands:
REVOCATION OF PROXIES: Certified proof of life and genetic verification proving Isabella Vescari and Dominic Vescari are 100% competent, revoking all corporate proxies.
ARREST WARRANTS: Federal warrants served on Julian Moretti for Attempted First-Degree Premeditated Murder, Arson, and $160 Million Corporate Fraud.
THE VESCARI TRUST ENFORCEMENT: Legal injunction confirming Chairwoman Isabella Vescari as sole forty-nine percent controlling equity holder over the South Chicago Commercial Docks.
"Julian Moretti," Lead Federal Marshal Miller declared coldly, stepping forward with heavy steel handcuffs. "You are under arrest."
