Chapter 6 - The Fall of the Rossi SyndicateThe safehouse in downtown Chicago was a nondescript loft apartment with reinforced steel doors and encrypted monitors broadcasting live surveillance feeds from cameras hidden around David’s estate.

I paced the hardwood floor like a caged animal, my hands shaking so violently I could barely hold a cup of water. On the main monitor, the North Shore mansion was a war zone. Flames licked against the second-story windows, smoke billowing into the night sky, while tactical units loyal to David engaged in brutal, close-quarters firefights against the invading Rossi enforcers across the manicured lawns.

Marcus stood by the console, his fingers flying across a tactical keyboard as he coordinated backup reinforcements from our allied syndicates across the city.

"Is he alive?" I choked out, my voice breaking as I stared at the chaotic video feed. "Marcus, tell me he's alive!"

"Mr. Prescott knows how to survive, Ms. Parker," Marcus replied, though his own jaw was clenched tight with worry. "He’s fought off worse than the Rossis. But they made a fatal mistake tonight. They brought a war to his home."

On screen, the tide of battle suddenly shifted with terrifying speed.

Three armored vans bearing the markings of David’s private security reserve smashed through the burning secondary gates of the estate, disgorging dozens of heavily armed enforcers who flanked the Rossi mercenaries from behind, trapping them in a brutal crossfire between the mansion’s stone walls and the lake.

At the center of the advancing line was David himself.

He moved with cold, calculated precision—no hesitation, no fear, just absolute, merciless authority. Within twenty minutes, the gunfire died down to scattered pops, and the surviving Rossi operatives were disarmed, zip-tied, and dragged onto the gravel driveway.

On the monitor, David stood in the courtyard amidst the smoke and falling rain, his shirt stained with soot and blood, lowering his weapon as his phone was handed to him.

A moment later, my phone buzzed on the kitchen counter of the safehouse.

I snatched it up instantly.

"Talk to me," I breathed, tears streaming down my face.

"The estate is secure," David’s voice came through the speaker—rough, exhausted, but steady as a rock. "The Rossi leadership has been neutralized. Nobody is ever going to set foot on those grounds again."

"Are you hurt?"

"Nothing that won't heal," he murmured softly. "Are you safe, Madison?"

"I'm safe," I sobbed, a massive wave of relief crashing over me. "Get over here right now, David Prescott. Do you hear me? Get over here."

"I'm on my way."
