Chapter 7 - The Crown We Build TogetherSome stories begin in the dark, bathed in pain and fear. But the best stories are the ones where you rebuild yourself into someone indestructible.

Six months later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the breathtaking coast of Amalfi, Italy. The sparkling blue waters of the Mediterranean stretched as far as the eye could see, catching the golden sunlight like millions of floating diamonds.

On a private cliffside villa surrounded by blooming pink bougainvillea and olive trees, soft classical music floated through the warm breeze.

I stood on the marble balcony looking out at the sea. I wore an exquisite, flowing ivory silk gown that caught the gentle wind. My left arm was completely healed—the skin smooth, the bone strong, holding a delicate glass of sparkling lemonade without a single tremor.

The nightmares were gone. The fear was a distant memory.

A pair of strong arms wrapped gently around my waist from behind. I leaned back into Vincent’s broad chest, taking in the comforting scent of cedarwood and sea air.

"What are you thinking about, my queen?" Vincent asked softly, resting his chin on my shoulder, his dark eyes gazing out at the ocean with me.

"I was thinking about the diner," I smiled softly, turning slightly in his embrace to look up at him. "About the night I spilled coffee on your expensive shoes."

Vincent chuckled softly, a warm, rich sound. He reached up, his fingers gently brushing a lock of hair from my face, his dark eyes filled with endless warmth and devotion.

"That was the luckiest coffee spill of my life," Vincent murmured. "I went to that diner that night expecting an ambush from a rival family. Instead, I found the most remarkable woman I would ever meet."

After Mark and his uncle were sentenced to life in prison without parole, Vincent completely restructured the Moretti family's operations. He dismantled the illegal territories, shifting the syndicate’s massive wealth into legitimate international shipping, philanthropy, and art restoration—building a clean, peaceful legacy that we could share together without fear.

And together, we created the Lena Moretti Foundation—a massive, fully funded network of safe houses, legal aid, and medical care facilities across the country dedicated to helping abused women escape their captors and rebuild their lives with complete financial independence.

I was no longer just a survivor. I was a protector.

"The guests are waiting downstairs, Lena," Vincent said gently, taking my hand and kissing the back of my fingers. "Are you ready?"

"I've been ready for a long time," I replied, beaming with happiness.

Hand in hand, we walked down the grand stone staircase onto the sunlit terrace, where our closest friends, family, and allies gathered to celebrate our wedding. Mateo, fully recovered and wearing a sharp tuxedo, stood near the front with a proud smile on his face.

As Vincent and I stood together before the altar overlooking the vast ocean, exchanging vows of love, respect, and eternal loyalty, I looked up at the sky and smiled.

I had once believed my life was over inside a locked bathroom on a cold tile floor, holding a broken arm and a golden card. But that night wasn't the end of my life.

It was the birth of my strength.

Vincent leaned in, placing his hand gently behind my waist, pulling me close as he pressed his lips to mine in a passionate, deep kiss that sealed our future forever.

I was no longer the waitress hiding in the dark. I was Lena Moretti, the queen of my own destiny, loved by a king who would move mountains to keep me safe, standing in the brilliant light of a brand-new day.
