Chapter 7 - Dawn over Elliott BayBy sunrise, the syndicate war had been decisively, brutally ended.

While we were locked in the penthouse suite, Luca and Aiden’s loyal loyalists had moved swiftly across the city, dismantling Salvatore Vance’s operations, freezing his assets, and driving his remaining capos out of the Pacific Northwest. By dawn, the city’s underground had received a clear, unmistakable message: Aiden Chambers is untouchable, and his wife is off-limits.

The penthouse was silent.

The storm had passed, leaving behind a brilliant, golden autumn morning that painted Elliott Bay in shimmering shades of amber and blue.

I stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows of the master suite, wearing a simple silk robe, holding a cup of hot coffee.

Strong, warm arms wrapped around my waist from behind.

I didn't need to turn around to know it was Aiden. He rested his chin gently on my shoulder, his breathing steady, his hands resting flat and secure against my stomach.

“Salvatore is gone,” Aiden murmured into my hair, his voice deep and warm. “His assets have been seized, and the commission has sworn fealty. The syndicate will never bother us again.”

“And us?” I asked quietly, turning in his arms to face him.

Aiden looked down at me, the haunting shadows completely gone from his gray eyes, replaced by a profound, radiant warmth.

“The contract said two years,” Aiden said, his fingers gently tracing the line of my jaw—no hesitation, no tremor, just pure, grounded affection. “But I’m tearing it up today. Unless... unless you want to walk away.”

I smiled, reaching up to wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him down until our lips were mere millimeters apart.

“I think,” I whispered, “my shift as your private nurse is just getting started.”

Aiden didn't answer with words. He kissed me—deeply, passionately, and without a single ounce of fear.

Downstairs, the city of Seattle woke up to a new era, believing their most feared mafia boss had conquered the underworld. But out on the forty-second-floor balcony, looking out over the sparkling bay, I knew the real victory: the most dangerous man in the city had finally learned how to love, and his hands would never shake again.
