Over the next six months, Sebastian Thorne did something the business world would have considered impossible: he stepped down as active CEO of Apexora, handing day-to-day operational control over to a trusted board committee, and relocated his primary residence from the glass-and-steel penthouse on Central Park West to a four-story brownstone in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
He didn't buy the brownstone next door. He didn't try to evict Marcus or throw money at the neighborhood.
Instead, he rented a modest, two-bedroom apartment three blocks away, walked to the local bakery every morning to buy fresh bagels, and showed up at the brownstone at 7:30 AM sharp with coffee for Elena and oatmeal for the kids.
At first, the triplets were suspicious of the tall, sharply dressed man who looked like the pictures in their mother’s old photo albums. But children are remarkably resilient, and children are entirely incapable of resisting a father who spends every Saturday afternoon building elaborate Lego castles in the living room and pushing swings until his arms feel like lead.
By spring, "Mr. Sebastian" had simply become "Daddy."
And Marcus?
Marcus proved to be every bit the decent man Elena had described. The first time Sebastian ran into him at the local hardware store buying supplies to repair the brownstone’s front porch, the two men stood awkwardly between aisles of drywall screws and power tools for five full minutes before Marcus finally offered his hand.
"You're actually sticking around, aren't you?" Marcus asked, eyeing Sebastian’s mud-stained flannel shirt with mild amusement.
"I'm not going anywhere, Cole," Sebastian replied, shaking his hand firmly. "Though I’m going to need you to teach me how to properly use a miter saw before I cut my own fingers off."
Marcus laughed, a deep, easy sound. "Deal. But you're paying for the lumber."
Meanwhile, the corporate world watched in stunned disbelief as Apexora underwent a massive restructuring. Sebastian redirected thirty percent of his personal holding capital into a newly established philanthropic trust focused on maternal health and affordable housing for single mothers—a foundation personally spearheaded by Elena Sanchez.
The tabloids went wild.
