Chapter 2 - The Executive AssemblyThe grand executive boardroom of Crestview Capital Partners was a masterpiece of cold, corporate elegance. Twenty senior managing directors, lead forensic auditors, and senior legal partners sat around a forty-foot obsidian conference table.

I walked in beside my father, taking my seat at the head of the table in the Vice Chair’s leather armchair.

Arthur stood at the podium, tapping a control panel that projected real-time financial statements, stock charts, and video feeds onto the room's high-definition wall monitors.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the board," Arthur announced into the quiet room. "As you know, our primary Q3 capital allocation of three point two billion dollars was scheduled to be wired to SwiftFreight Logistics in seventy-two hours, subject to final audit clearance."

He clicked a button on the presenter remote.

The recorded video and audio from my small metal pen and jacket camera began to play clearly through the boardroom’s high-fidelity acoustic speakers and screens:

Gavin’s voice: "In three days, I’m closing the biggest investment deal of my life, and I won’t let a mediocre woman ruin it... You sign today, or I’ll bury you in lawsuits until you can’t even afford rent."

Mason’s video confession: "For months, we’ve been moving Gavin’s assets out of reach of the divorce... almost forty million dollars... the financial statements have been adjusted..."

A collective, horrified gasp swept through the twenty senior directors.

Senior Audit Director Jonathan Sterling stood up immediately, his face flushed with professional rage. "Mr. Miller! This is explicit corporate wire fraud, systemic embezzlement, and bad-faith disclosure! SwiftFreight’s financial statements presented to our due-diligence committee were completely falsified!"

"Not only that," Lead Legal Counsel Eleanor Vance added, opening a thick red dossier. "Under Section 14 of the preliminary Term Sheet signed by Gavin Pierce, any act of fraudulent asset concealment or material misrepresentation instantly invalidates the funding agreement and triggers an immediate ten percent liquidated damages penalty—payable within twenty-four hours."

I leaned forward, resting my elbows against the obsidian table, looking at the glowing monitors displaying Gavin’s smug face from his company’s promotional videos.

"Jonathan," I spoke softly, my voice carrying a crystal-clear, razor-sharp authority that commanded total silence. "What is SwiftFreight’s current liquid cash reserve without our investment?"

"Less than twelve million dollars, Vice Chair Miller," Jonathan reported flatly. "They have forty-five million in short-term payroll due on Friday, sixty million in vessel leasing notes due on Monday, and two hundred million in credit lines coming due to local banks. Without Crestview’s three point two billion, SwiftFreight is functionally insolvent in less than five days."

A cold, beautiful smile touched my lips.

"Then let us make sure Gavin Pierce enjoys his victory party tonight," I commanded smoothly. "Eleanor, prepare the formal Notice of Default and Immediate Termination. We will serve it to him tomorrow morning... at his public press conference."
