Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever HomeI looked down at the drawing in the sketchbook.

Drawn in bold, vibrant forest-green wax was a large, sunlit house with a wide garden, three figures holding hands, and a giant pickup truck driving under a bright yellow sun.
Written at the bottom in Luca's shaky, six-year-old handwriting were seven words:
MY DAD, MY EMILY, AND OUR HOME.
Tears of pure, overwhelming happiness glinted in my eyes as I pulled Emily closer against my chest, pressing a lingering, deep kiss against her lips under the warm autumn sun.
Luca came running up the stone steps of the terrace, throwing his small arms around both of our waists, his bright, innocent silver laughter echoing under the open sky.
"Look, Dad! Look, Emily!" Luca chirped happily, pointing out toward the sunlit lawn. "Marco says I kicked the ball all the way to the trees!"
"You kicked it like a champion, sweet boy," I promised, lifting my son up into my strong arms, pressing a loving kiss against his rosy cheek as Emily wrapped her arms around us both.
Marco raised his champagne glass from the primary table, his deep, booming baritone carrying cleanly across the quiet grounds.
"To CEO Vincent Romano, Donna Emily, and Young Prince Luca!" Marco toasted with deep, genuine pride. "The sovereign family who built an empire of honor out of unbroken strength, truth, and eternal love!"
"To Vincent, Emily, and Luca!" the entire terrace echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, dozens of crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
Across the dark, sparkling blue waters of the Hudson River, the evening sun set beneath the horizon, painting the sky in sweeping tapestries of gold, rose, and deep sapphire.
There were no arrogant rival bosses making threats in parking lots. There were no dark notes or silent rooms separating a father from his son. There were no tears, debts, or fears separating our hearts from peace.

The quiet, grieving widower was dead forever. The sovereign leader and father had claimed his true home.
And standing under the vast, unbroken sky, holding my family safe in my arms, listening to my son's silver voice bloom under the spring sun, I knew that our lives, our hearts, and our future were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
