Chapter 5: The Showdown in the Ancestral Vault

Inside the starkly lit operating room, the scene unfolding made my blood run instantly cold. Don Vincent stood over a stainless-steel medical table where Isabel lay pale, exhausted, and hooked up to an intravenous drip, her eyes blazing with defiance despite the clear trauma of forced induction. A corrupt syndicate medic stood beside her with a syringe, while two armed guards raised their rifles toward the doorway the second I broke through. "Drop your weapons right now, Alexander, or the woman and the baby get a heavy dose of potassium chloride," Vincent hissed, stepping forward with his silver-cane raised like a club, a manic gleam of absolute madness in his eyes. "You're too late, boy. The labor has already been artificially stimulated. The heir will be born under my authority, and you will spend the rest of your life rotting in a black-site prison for treason against the family."

My heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped animal, but as I looked into Isabel’s terrified yet fiercely resolute eyes, all fear evaporated, replaced by cold, calculated precision. I didn't raise my rifle to shoot; instead, I lowered the barrel slightly, looking past my father directly at the two armed guards flanking him. "Listen to me very carefully," I said, my voice cutting through the sterile room with the absolute authority of a warlord. "Vincent is a dying old man clinging to a ghost. The moment I pull this trigger, every single account, shell company, and offshore trust funding this family will be permanently frozen by my emergency legal team. You will be left holding the bag for a dead syndicate. Drop your weapons and walk out that door right now, and I guarantee you walk away rich and free." The two guards glanced sideways at each other, hesitation flickering across their hardened faces. Before Vincent could scream a command, both mercenaries dropped their rifles to the tile floor and bolted out the service exit. Vincent’s face turned the color of ash as he spun around to face them, screaming curses at the empty doorway. Taking advantage of his momentary distraction, I lunged forward across the room with terrifying speed, slamming the heavy butt of my rifle square into Vincent’s jaw and sending him crashing unconscious onto the medical floor.
