Chapter 7 - A New DynastyOne year later, the autumn air in the Hamptons was crisp, clear, and scented with salt and pine.

The cliffside glass estate overlooking the Atlantic Ocean was filled with laughter, clinking crystal, and the soft strains of a string quartet playing Vivaldi under a canopy of white roses. There were no politicians, no corrupt police chiefs, and no low-level syndicate thugs. Just a tight circle of trusted friends, my parents—who looked happier and healthier than they had in a decade—and a small contingent of loyal men who guarded the perimeter with quiet, respectful dignity.

I stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling bedroom mirror, smoothing down the fabric of my wedding dress. It wasn't red silk this time. It was a gown of ivory lace, elegant, timeless, and completely my own choice.

The door clicked open, and Leo stepped into the room.

He wore a tailored midnight-blue tuxedo with a black silk tie, looking every bit the ruthless syndicate patriarch, but when his eyes landed on me in the mirror, his severe expression melted into a look of absolute, humbling devotion.

He walked up behind me, wrapping his strong arms around my waist and resting his chin softly on my shoulder, inhaling the scent of my hair.

“You’re shaking,” he murmured, his lips brushing the sensitive skin of my neck.

“I’m not shaking, I’m vibrating,” I smiled, covering his hands with mine, feeling the heavy gold wedding band resting against his ring finger. “It’s a big day, Mr. Casaro.”

“It’s the only day that ever mattered,” Leo corrected softly, turning me around so I was facing him directly. He reached into his breast pocket and pulled out a small, square velvet box, flipping it open to reveal a vintage diamond ring surrounded by a delicate cluster of star rubies—an heirloom from his mother’s side of the family.

“One last tradition,” Leo whispered, sliding the ring onto my finger above my wedding band.

“You already gave me everything, Leo,” I said, looking up into his dark, steady eyes. “The house, the safety, the truth... and a man who actually knows what honor means.”

“I gave you nothing you didn't already earn the day you walked into my study with your shoes in your hand,” Leo said, kissing the back of my hand with fierce tenderness.

Outside, the ocean waves crashed against the jagged cliffs below, an endless rhythm of power and persistence. But inside this room, standing in the arms of the man who ruled the dark while keeping me in the light, I knew my story didn't end with a betrayal in a hallway.

It ended with an empire built on truth, and a love that not even the underworld could tear apart.
