Chapter 4 - The House of Cards CollapsesPandemonium erupted in the SwiftFreight auditorium.

Flashbulbs exploded in rapid succession as reporters surged forward, shoving microphones toward the stage. Cameramen climbed over chairs to capture the sheer, unadulterated panic etched across Gavin’s face. Charlotte screamed, dropping her crystal champagne glass, which shattered into a thousand glittering shards against the concrete floor.
Mason bolted from his seat in the third row, scrambling frantically toward the side exit, only to find two federal marshals blocking the doorway with impassive expressions.
"Sit down, Mr. Mason," one marshal commanded, his hand resting casually near his holstered sidearm. "You’re part of this audit."
Gavin stared at Arthur Pendelton as if looking at a ghost. "Audit? What audit?! We own this company! SwiftFreight is valued at nine billion dollars! You can't just freeze operations over a banking glitch!"
"It’s not a glitch, Mr. Pierce," Arthur said smoothly, pulling a second set of documents from his briefcase and laying them flat on the podium. "It’s a corporate decapitation. Let’s review what happened over the last seventy-two hours, shall we?"
Arthur tapped his finger against the top document.
"Item one: Your intellectual property licenses, warehouse land leases, and customs clearance bonds are not owned by SwiftFreight. They are wholly owned by Miller Family Trust Holding Co., operated exclusively through Crestview Partners. As of 9:01 AM this morning, those licenses have been revoked for breach of moral conduct and severe corporate malfeasance."
Gavin’s breath hitched in his throat. "Revoked? You can't revoke our logistics licenses! Our entire fleet will be grounded by noon!"
"Item two," Arthur continued, raising his voice to cut through the clamor of reporters shouting questions from the floor, "our forensic accountants have reviewed your corporate escrow accounts. We discovered that over forty million dollars in operating capital was systematically funneled into offshore shell companies in the Cayman Islands under your mother’s and your chief financial officer’s names, disguised as administrative expenses."
Mason buried his face in his hands, groaning audibly as Bridget began to hyperventilate beside him.
"And finally," Arthur said, turning toward the media cameras and holding up a small, unassuming silver pen, "we are in possession of authenticated audio and video recordings from this past weekend detailing your coercion of a private citizen, the execution of fraudulent debt instruments under extreme duress, and the deliberate physical assault of Sabrina Miller—the daughter of Crestview Partners' founder and managing partner."
The auditorium went dead silent for two seconds. Then, a collective gasp swept through the room like a tidal wave.
Sabrina Miller... Harrison Miller’s daughter?!
Reporters began whispering frantically, typing on their phones, realizing the titanic scope of the scandal unfolding before their eyes. The quiet, unassuming woman Gavin had thrown out into the rain with a single sports bag was not a penniless nobody; she was the sole heir to the very empire that had funded Gavin’s entire existence.
"No..." Gavin whispered, stumbling backward away from the podium until his legs hit the edge of the glass display table. "No, that’s impossible... Sabrina is nobody! She’s just... she’s just an ordinary woman!"
"An ordinary woman whom you beat with a belt because your mistress scratched her car," Arthur finished coldly.
Two federal marshals stepped onto the stage, their heavy hands gripping Gavin by both shoulders. They spun him around, yanked his arms behind his back, and slapped cold steel handcuffs around his wrists with a sharp, echoing click.
"Gavin Pierce, you have the right to remain silent," the marshal recited mechanically. "Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."
As Gavin was dragged across the stage, his tailored navy suit rumpled, his hair disheveled, and tears of pure humiliation stinging his eyes, he caught sight of the live broadcast monitor.
Across the screen, the corporate logo of SwiftFreight flickered, vanished, and was instantly replaced by the golden crest of Crestview Partners, accompanied by a new, permanent corporate banner: RECEIVERSHIP INITIATED. ASSETS SECURED BY MILLER FAMILY TRUST.

Charlotte tried to slip out through the side aisle, but two security guards intercepted her, confiscating her designer handbag and handing her a federal subpoena for corporate conspiracy and wire fraud.
Gavin was hauled out through the double doors past a gauntlet of flashing cameras, his career, his company, his wealth, and his arrogant illusion of superiority evaporating into nothingness in less than five minutes.
