Chapter 7 - The New Dawn(Target: 2,000 words - Focus: A beautiful jump forward in time; the Vances are serving their long sentences; Aria gives birth to a healthy baby girl and finds true peace and empowerment.)

One year later.

The penthouse balcony overlooked the glittering skyline of the city. The air was crisp, clear, and smelled of blooming jasmine.

I stood by the railing, wearing a simple, elegant silk robe. In my arms, I held a beautiful, chubby-cheeked, ten-month-old baby girl. Her name was Hope. She had my eyes and none of the Vance features. She was perfect, healthy, and safe.

Marcus stepped onto the balcony, holding a tablet and a warm bottle of milk for Hope. "Good morning, Chairperson Aria. I have the final status updates you requested regarding the... asset liquidations."

"Tell me," I said, gently rocking Hope as she drifted off to sleep.

"Beatrice Vance’s appeal was denied. She is currently serving ten years for aggravated assault. Her prison job is... ironically, scrubbing the facility floors for twelve cents an hour," Marcus reported, a slight smile on his face. "Richard Vance pleaded guilty to federal espionage and embezzlement; he received fifteen years. Chloe Vance is currently working two retail jobs just to afford a shared basement apartment."

"And Ethan?" I asked, my voice devoid of any emotion, as if asking about the weather.

"Ethan’s bankruptcy was finalized. He was spotted yesterday working as an entry-level delivery driver for one of our third-party shipping contractors. He spends his days delivering boxes to the very skyscraper he used to swagger into as a Vice President. He tried to file for visitation rights last month, but the judge threw it out immediately based on his history of domestic negligence."

I looked down at Hope, who let out a sweet, soft sigh in her sleep. The nightmare was completely over. The Vances had wanted a submissive, broken girl they could step on to make themselves feel powerful. Instead, they had invited the ruler of their world into their home, and their own cruelty had brought down their sky.

"Thank you, Marcus," I said softly, taking the bottle from him. "Close the files on them permanently. They no longer exist to us."

"Understood, Madam," Marcus said, bowing respectfully before walking back inside.

I walked over to the rocking chair on the balcony, sitting down as the golden morning sun bathed me and my daughter in its warm light. I had kept a secret throughout my marriage, hiding my crown in the shadows. But today, the crown was back on my head, my empire was stronger than ever, and my daughter would grow up knowing that her mother was a woman who could never be broken by the cold water of the world.

I kissed Hope’s forehead, smiling as the city roared to life beneath us—an empire built by my hands, protected by my strength, and destined for her future.
