Chapter 3 - The Sanctuary in the StateroomBy 10:30 PM, the upper deck of the Sovereign Star was completely cleared of guests.

The ninety socialites and billionaires had been escorted down the gangway into private tenders bound for the Monaco marina, their faces pale, their hushed whispers carrying stories of the catastrophic downfall of the Vale family across the harbor.
Inside the grand master stateroom on the main deck—a magnificent two-thousand-square-foot luxury suite filled with polished mahogany, cream leather, floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the Mediterranean, and warm, sunlit amber lighting—a quiet, weightless peace settled into my soul.
I had changed out of the ruined, champagne-soaked ivory dress into a comfortable dark cashmere sweater and tailored trousers provided by the yacht's private wardrobe team.
Sitting on the velvet sofa near the fireplace was Rachel Vance—my chief estate attorney and lifelong confidante—who had arrived via private helicopter from Nice twenty minutes earlier.
Rachel set down a heavy leather folder bound by red legal seals onto the marble coffee table, holding a glass of iced mineral water.
"The livestream video recorded by Cassandra Vale was permanently scrubbed from the primary cloud servers six minutes ago under emergency digital injunctions, Elena," Rachel reported smoothly, her voice sharp as surgical steel. "Furthermore, secondary defamation and property destruction suits have been filed against Cassandra Vale in the High Court of Monaco."
"And her father's firm?" I asked, taking a slow sip of hot chamomile tea.
"Arthur Vale's secondary logistics lease at the Marseille harbor was officially revoked forty-five minutes ago," Rachel confirmed with a razor-sharp smile. "His firm will be insolvent before the stock market opens on Monday morning."
Captain Laurent stepped into the master stateroom, carrying a silver tray with fresh fruit and warm pastries, setting it gently beside my cup.
"Mademoiselle Elena," Captain Laurent spoke gently, his storm-gray eyes holding mine with deep, fatherly warmth. "The primary vessel is fully prepped for departure to our private anchorage in Cap Ferrat. But... there is a gentleman waiting at the secondary tender dock who insists on speaking with you."
I paused, setting my tea cup down flat onto the saucer. "A gentleman?"
May you like
"Don Julian Moretti," Captain Laurent revealed softly.
My heart took a sudden, fluttering leap against my ribs.
