Chapter 6 - The Truth Unveiled"You don't have to make the call, Claire."

The deep, commanding voice echoed from the shadows of the warehouse entrance.
Claire spun around, her face pale.
Daniel Carver walked out of the darkness alone. His clothes were damp from the rain, and he held a sleek black pistol in his hand, pointed directly at the ground. But it was his eyes that made Claire’s guards hesitate. He looked like a predator who had finally cornered his prey.
"Daniel!" Claire gasped, quickly stepping behind one of her armed men. "Don't take another step! One word from me, and they drop the cage!"
"Your father is already in handcuffs, Claire," Daniel said, his voice deadly calm. "My men took his secure facility ten minutes ago. The police and the federal agents are currently seizing every asset the Whitlocks own. It's over."
"No! You're lying!" Claire screamed. "Shoot him! Shoot him now!"
The guards hesitated, looking at each other. They knew who Daniel Carver was. To fire on him was a guaranteed death sentence in this city.
"If you drop your weapons now," Daniel announced, his voice carrying the weight of an absolute ruler, "you walk away with your lives. If you pull a trigger, you won't survive the night. Choose."
One by one, the guards dropped their weapons to the concrete floor, raising their hands.
"Cowards!" Claire shrieked. She lunged toward the control panel on the wall, her fingers clawing at the lever that held the cage suspended over the water.
Daniel didn't hesitate. He fired a single shot.
The bullet struck the control panel in a shower of sparks, destroying the mechanism completely. The lever jammed, locking the cage safely in place.
Claire screamed in frustration, but before she could try anything else, Daniel was there. He grabbed her by the wrist, forcing her away from the controls, and threw her to the ground. Within seconds, Daniel’s backup team flooded the warehouse, detaining Claire and her remaining men.
Daniel rushed to Hannah’s side. He immediately shed his wet coat, wrapping it around her shivering shoulders.
"Are you hurt?" he asked, his hands cupping her face. His thumbs gently brushed away the rain and tears on her cheeks. "Did she hurt you?"
"I'm okay," Hannah sobbed, clutching his arms. "I'm okay. Please, get Caleb down."
Daniel nodded to his men, who quickly operated the manual override winch to bring the cage down. Within minutes, Caleb was free. Despite his weakness, he threw his arms around his sister, both of them weeping in relief.

"I've got you," Caleb whispered. "I'm so sorry, Hannah. I'm so sorry."
Daniel stood back, watching the reunion. For the first time in his life, the cold, ruthless mafia boss felt a profound warmth in his chest. He looked at Hannah, who was smiling through her tears, and realized that his grand estate would never be empty again.
