Chapter 4 - The Boardroom ExecutionBy 9:00 a.m., the executive boardroom at Whitmore Global Logistics headquarters in downtown Los Angeles resembled a funeral parlor.

The massive mahogany conference table, usually buzzing with ambition and ego, was dead silent. Twelve board members sat in stiff leather chairs, their faces grim. At the head of the table sat Arthur Sterling, his cane resting across his knees, his eyes fixed coldly on the empty chair at the opposite end.
The heavy oak doors swung open.
Ethan walked in. He had managed to throw on a tailored Brioni suit, but his hair was slightly disheveled, his eyes bloodshot, and his usual commanding stride replaced by the hesitant walk of a man walking the green mile.
"Gentlemen," Ethan said, attempting to project an aura of calm authority as he reached his seat. "I understand there's been some... unfortunate confusion regarding a personal matter—"
"Save it, Ethan," Arthur interrupted, his voice dry and sharp as broken glass. He tossed a thick manila folder across the table. It slid across the polished wood and stopped right in front of Ethan’s hands. "That is an independent audit report compiled by our forensic accountants over the last six hours. It details over two million dollars in unauthorized corporate expenditures directed toward luxury gifts, apartment leases, and international travel expenses funneled to Ms. Vanessa Carter under the guise of 'marketing research.'"
Ethan stared at the folder, his throat tightening. "That's... that's standard executive discretion. Every CEO maintains discretionary funds—"
"Not when those funds are tied to federal defense logistics contracts and channeled through an employee who holds zero security clearance and has an active criminal record for corporate fraud under an alias," Julian Vance chimed in from down the table. Julian had decided to turn on Ethan faster than a drowning rat, hoping to save his own skin by throwing his former best friend under the bus.
Ethan snapped his head toward Julian, betrayal flashing in his eyes. "Julian! You signed off on those ledgers!"
"I signed off based on your direct executive orders, Ethan," Julian lied smoothly, adjusting his tie. "Orders you gave while concealing your conflict of interest with Ms. Carter."
"Enough!" Arthur slammed his hand against the table, the sharp crack silencing the room instantly. He leaned forward, fixing Ethan with a gaze filled with absolute contempt. "The board has voted unanimously. As of right now, Ethan Whitmore is stripped of his title as Chief Executive Officer, removed from the board of directors, and placed on immediate administrative leave pending a federal grand jury investigation."
Ethan stood up so fast his chair crashed backward onto the carpet. "You can't do this! I founded this company! I own the majority voting shares!"
"Correction, Mr. Whitmore," a calm, crisp voice echoed from the doorway of the boardroom.
Everyone turned.
Stepping into the room was a sharp-dressed woman in a charcoal pantsuit carrying a heavy leather briefcase—Catherine Vance, my lead attorney. Flanking her were two federal marshals in dark suits.
Catherine walked steadily toward the table, opening her briefcase and pulling out a certified legal document bearing the seal of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
"Mr. Whitmore no longer controls the majority voting shares," Catherine announced clearly, laying the document down in front of Arthur Sterling. "Pursuant to the irrevocable marital property trust and corporate proxy assignment executed and filed legally three years ago, Mrs. Elena Whitmore holds absolute voting control over fifty-one percent of all primary stock classes in Whitmore Global Logistics."
The room erupted into stunned murmurs.

Ethan staggered backward, grabbing the edge of the table to steady himself. "That's impossible... Elena doesn't know anything about corporate law... she signed what I gave her..."
"Your wife was a corporate restructuring attorney before she married you, Mr. Whitmore," Catherine said with a cold, professional smile. "She simply let you play king while she held the crown."
