Chapter 7 - The Unbroken RoadThe private jet climbed steadily through the crisp, violet dawn sky, leaving the Chicago skyline behind as it banked eastward toward the Atlantic.

I sat by the window of the cabin, reviewing the final encrypted dossier for the Geneva transition project on my tablet. The documents were clean, the compliance metrics were solid, and the institutional reforms we had fought so hard to establish were finally taking root globally.
Marcus sat across the aisle, sipping black coffee and reading the morning financial digests. He glanced over the top of his newspaper, offering me an approving nod.
"You know, Clara," Marcus remarked, setting his cup down on the tray table. "Looking back at everything—the undercover stint, the wedding, the raid, the restructuring—most people would have let that kind of trauma harden them. They would have walked away from corporate investigations forever."

"Julian and Vivienne spent their entire lives building a fortress out of lies because they were terrified of what they really were underneath. They thought power meant controlling everyone around them. But real power isn't about control. It’s about knowing who you are when the mask is ripped away and you're left standing alone in the mud."
Marcus smiled, raising his coffee mug in a silent toast. "And you discovered who you are?"
"Yes," I answered without a moment's hesitation. "Unbroken."
