Chapter 7 - The New DawnThree years later.

The morning sun poured through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of my penthouse office in Manhattan, casting a warm, golden glow across the polished hardwood floors and the endless skyline of the city I now commanded.

I sat at my mahogany desk, reviewing the final expansion reports for Bellamy Holdings' global philanthropic initiative—a foundation dedicated specifically to supporting women escaping financial abuse and corporate exploitation.

My phone rested silently beside my coffee cup. No frantic voicemails. No abusive text messages. No manipulative demands from people who thought they owned my life.

Just peace. Absolute, unyielding, beautiful peace.

Marcus walked into the office carrying a fresh cup of espresso and placed it gently beside my laptop.

“Morning, Boss,” Marcus smiled, leaning against the edge of the desk. “The European board meeting is set for ten, and the legal drafts for the new women’s shelter fund in Queens have been fully approved.”

I looked up, taking a sip of the warm espresso, and smiled back. “Thank you, Marcus. How is the foundation looking for donations this quarter?”

“ Surpassing all projections,” Marcus replied proudly. “We’ve already helped over five hundred women regain their financial independence and rebuild their lives from scratch.”

I nodded slowly, looking out past the glass at the bustling streets below, where millions of people walked with purpose, unaware of the quiet storms that had shaped the world above them.

People often asked me how I survived the betrayal, the divorce, and the vicious attempts to strip me of everything I had built.

They thought my revenge was cutting the credit card.

They thought my victory was taking back the real estate.

They were wrong.

My real victory wasn't destroying them. It was realizing that I never needed them in the first place.

I picked up my pen, signed the final document approving the new foundation grant, and closed the folder with a soft, satisfying click.

The coffee was warm. The morning was bright. And my life was entirely my own.
