Chapter 7 - A New Dawn in ChicagoThree years later.

The spring sun washed over the sprawling manicured lawns of a magnificent lakeside estate in Evanston, just blocks away from the state-of-the-art medical and residential foundation that now bore my parents' name—fully funded, endowed, and operating as a beacon of hope for patients like my brother, Leo.
Leo was sitting under the shade of a weeping willow tree, laughing brightly as he played chess with a gentle, professional caretaker while listening to his favorite classical records.
I stood on the sunlit stone terrace of the main villa, wearing a flowing emerald summer dress, holding a cup of fresh espresso.
Footsteps approached from behind me, followed by a pair of strong, familiar arms wrapping around my waist, pulling me backward against a warm, solid chest.
"Are you daydreaming again, Chief of Staff?" Dante’s deep, rich voice rumbled against my ear. He pressed a warm kiss to my neck, his lips lingering softly against my skin.
I leaned back into his embrace, smiling as I handed him a second cup of coffee. "I'm not daydreaming. I'm just appreciating the view. And marveling at the fact that nobody has tried to overthrow your empire this week."
Dante chuckled, resting his chin on my shoulder as we looked out across the lawn toward Leo. "The underworld has learned a very valuable lesson over the past three years. You don't mess with Blackwood Holdings. And you certainly don't mess with the woman who manages my schedule."
"Or my Persian rugs," I added playfully.
Dante turned me around in his arms, his grey eyes shining with an absolute, unchanging devotion that still made my heart skip a beat every single day. The cold, terrifying mob boss who had once stood in a dark office holding a gun was gone, replaced by a man who had found his redemption, his family, and his true home.
"Especially the rugs," Dante smiled softly.

He leaned down, capturing my lips in a sweet, lingering kiss that tasted of morning coffee and forever.
The storms of our past were nothing more than distant memories. Out of blood, shadow, and an unforgettable laugh, we had built a fortress of love, strength, and an unbreakable future. And as Dante pulled me closer against his heart, I knew that no matter what tomorrow brought, we were untouchable.
