Chapter 2 - The Purge of the PenthouseAt 1:00 PM, the gold-leaf double doors of the master penthouse atop the Grand Regency Tower on Michigan Avenue opened smoothly.

Inside the sunlit, two-story living room, Sabrina Reynolds stood beside two open leather suitcases. She wore a three-thousand-dollar designer silk dress, her manicured fingers tapping impatiently against her glass of sparkling water as she barked orders into her phone.
"I don't care if the Don is busy!" Sabrina shrieked into the receiver. "Tell the credit company that my black card was issued by Moreland Capital! I need my reservation at the Drake restored immediately!"
BOOM!
The heavy mahogany entrance doors were thrown wide open!
Damian Moreland stepped into the foyer. He wore no coat despite the autumn chill outside, his broad shoulders squared, his storm-gray eyes locked onto Sabrina with a weightless, terrifying disgust that dropped the room's temperature to absolute zero.
Behind him walked Marcus Vance and four armed security officers carrying black canvas bags.
Sabrina dropped her phone onto the plush rug. A manipulative, sweet smile immediately appeared on her face as she hurried across the marble floor, reaching her hands out toward Damian’s chest.
"Damian, darling!" Sabrina cried softly, her eyes filling with fake, practiced tears. "Thank God you're back! I heard about the crash... it's so tragic about little Lily! I tried to comfort you on the yacht, but you left so fast—"
CLACK!
Damian didn't touch her. He didn't raise his voice. He simply held up his broad hand, stopping her two feet away as if she were a toxic hazard.
"Marcus," Damian said, his baritone dropping into an icy, frozen register. "Read her the audit."
Marcus Vance stepped forward, opening a red-sealed binder, sliding a set of high-definition digital financial ledgers flat onto the glass dining table:
THE INTERCEPTED EMERGENCY CALLS: Forensic telecommunication logs proving Sabrina Reynolds actively deleted three emergency text alerts sent by Claire to Damian’s phone while he was in the yacht's private conference room off the coast of Monaco.
THE EMBEZZLEMENT LOG: Bank registries documenting Sabrina stealing $3.2 million from the Moreland Family Trust over twelve months to fund off-ledger real estate purchases in France and Miami.
THE CONSPIRACY TO EXTORT: Intercepted email correspondence proving Sabrina leaked Claire’s daily travel routes to a high-society tabloid to trigger a public scandal before the upcoming corporate board elections.
Sabrina’s manicured hand went to her throat. The color drained from her face so completely she looked paper-white against her silk gown.
"D-Damian...!" Sabrina stammered, taking two frantic steps backward. "That's... that's a lie! I didn't delete anything! I was just protecting your meeting! You said you needed privacy!"
Damian stepped forward. He stood towering over her, his six-foot-three frame casting a broad shadow that felt like an iron cage closing in around her.
"My daughter asked for me seven times before she went into cardiac arrest," Damian whispered, his voice smooth as silk and cold as winter ice. "And while she was asking why her father was taking so long... you were deleting her mother's messages so you could stay another night on a yacht."
"Damian, please!" Sabrina wept, falling flat onto her knees on the marble floorboards, grabbing at the hem of his trousers. "I loved you! I gave you three years of my life!"
Damian looked down at her with an absolute, clean, weightless disgust.
"Execute Protocol Zero, Marcus," Damian commanded flatly.
Marcus Vance stepped forward, pulling a stack of court-stamped legal notices from his coat:
IMMEDIATE EVICTION: Formal twenty-four-hour eviction notice executed on her Michigan Avenue residence and Gold Coast properties.
CIVIL ASSET SEIZURE: Repossession of all jewelry, luxury vehicles, and offshore bank accounts purchased using Moreland trust capital.
CRIMINAL INDICTMENT: Federal arrest warrants served for Corporate Wire Fraud, Embezzlement, and Interstate Extortion.
Two uniformed federal marshals stepped through the double doors, locking heavy steel handcuffs around Sabrina’s wrists behind her back.
"Sabrina Reynolds," Lead Marshal Miller declared coldly. "You are under arrest."
CLICK. CLICK.
Sabrina thrashed and shrieked hysterical, pathetic pleas as marshals dragged her out of the Grand Regency Tower in total, public disgrace, surrounded by news crews capturing her downfall for the afternoon news.

Damian didn't look back as she was dragged away. He turned toward Marcus, his voice quiet, hollow, and absolute:
"Prepare the cathedral. Tomorrow... I stand before my wife."
